True bourbon barrel aged imperial stout

Keep us updated, I'm interested in a real high gravity beer and don't have the equipment yet to make the leap to AG.

Who else hates their 575 Perlicks?

I bought them since I love stouts and have been nothing but disappointed in these faucets. I seem to clean up more spills from drips of the faucets not closing completely or guests not being able to figure out the taps. Once I can afford to replace them with 525s I will in a heartbeat, or if...

What to salvage off 3 old computer towers

Ehh I don't know if it even works. Also after a quick search on craigslist I found one going for $30. I might throw it up there, but I don't want to screw anyone over so I might just go the best buy route (didn't know they did that) with everything but the hd, power supplies and fans.

What to salvage off 3 old computer towers

One has a fried motherboard, another has a shot HD and no RAM at all and possibly other problems and the other I have no idea what is wrong besides being told it didn't work. I'm not the most knowledgeable with computers so piecing together something crazy is out of the realm of my expertise...

What to salvage off 3 old computer towers

As the title states I have 3 old computer towers that were given to me with the intention of making a desktop I could use once my laptop died. Knock on wood my 7 year old laptop is still working. So now that I'm moving I am ready to get rid of these towers. With how old they are it is pointless...

    Stop using kits?

I started with kits about a year ago and the past 4 months I just have bought a bunch of pilsen dme, like yooper said, and a ton of different hops and a few different specialties grains. I've found if you want to buy in bulk farmhouse brewing usually has the best prices and a huge selection...

Missed my original gravity by quite a bit...

Did you add top up water to get to 5 gal? Only way you could be that far off is if you didn't add something or if you added water after a partial boil. If you added water it is pretty much impossible to mix it to the point where you get an accurately reading.

    Pulled Pork Trouble

This is what I do and even the huge ones take 14-15 at most. 19 is pretty darn long for a 4 pounder. I even smoke my at 200-225 and they never take that long. Are you sure your thermometers are accurate or in the right place when measuring the heat inside the smoker? Also I never cook to...

How do you guys move your carboys around?

Another fan of the brew hauler. I need to buy a few more of them.

    Smoked Eggs

Definitely gonna try this once it warms up some in a week or two. And deviled eggs sound amazing with these.

    Keeping Hydrometer in the Carboy?

Spend the 12 bucks or so on the fermtech thief. It fits a hydrometer in it and fits through all my carboys. One if the best things I've bought. Also great for getting samples. It is essentially a large bottling wand.

    Very Hoppy IPA Recipe

Just like making a batch of beer except smallest scale. And it will help out fermenting even the smaller beers you make.

High-ish gravity beer recipe that is ready in 7 weeks - GO!

https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f12/india-brown-ale-recipe-formulation-290895/ I just tapped the keg of this over the weekend. Turned out pretty good. I ended up using a whole oz of Columbus at 60 min and dry hopped with a half oz of both cascade and Columbus. Two weeks in the primary then added...

    carboy hop blues

Better yet use a nylon bag and put it over your racking cane. I only do this when dry hopping and also use one during the boil. Muslin bags suck and a nylon bag will pay for itself. Or buy paint strainers from home depot and use those.

    Sub $10 Drip tray idea.

Another cheap way is to use a stainless steel mud pan used for drywall. They are about $15 bucks and already waterproof.

    keezer build... still have questions

A 4 inch collar will work. Keep in mind though where you are gonna pour from I find with my collar using a 2 by 10, I would have liked to put the taps higher up than half way like I did. I am 6'2" though. Just a thought for the time being.

    Starter Rookie...

Use a magnet to hold it on the glass before pouring. We do that in the lab at my office.
