    Grainfather!!

Thanks for the work on this. If it's a plug and play controller out of the box and user friendly, it looks like a viable - and powerful - alternative to the upgraded GF controller. And if the price point is say, half of the GF upgrade, then it's definitely an attractive one. Competitive options...

    Grainfather!!

I'm thinking the horse is out of the barn here...GF is releasing a simple plug and play controller upgrade that will do what most people here want/care about - if they choose to upgrade at all. Could this arduino unit be cheaper and more easily controllable than the GF unit? Possibly more...

    Grainfather!!

Lol. Thought about that route but just another convenience for me...I'd pay for the controller lol.

Where did you get it and how much?

    Grainfather!!

You e git the wrong stop pipe...the sections should be adjustable like an aerial...my stopper doesn't look like that one either. Didn't you get this GF from Everwood?

    Grainfather!!

In the meantime I just ladle the water over the grainbed until I reach the level required. I'll just wait until I get the valve to add a little more hands free...forgot about it until I saw your post so thanks for the reminder lol.

    Grainfather!!

I got a piece of silicon tubing and will get a small ball valve to regulate the flow. Just looking around for a decent PVC, brass or stainless one and will measure the flow rate until I get it within 1/2 to 1 inch above the grainbed. That's the plan, anyway.

It is a nice tight fit.It also will prevent minor dings and scratches. I wish it was a little more adjustable in the girth department, as I definitely couldn't double wrap it over my Reflectix coat.

Try noblegrape.ca They're the Canadian distributors for all things Grainfather - out of Nova Scotia. Everwood Ave. might have them but if NG doesn't have them, Dave likely won't.

    Grainfather!!

Yeah but it's like putting a cheap dress on a hot model. The reflectix works but doesn't come close to the tuxedo appearance of the Grainjacket. I can't believe after spending nearly a grand on a Grainfather why $50 more on a Graincoat is a big deal.

    Grainfather!!

Yeah, I agree with the local buy deal. I got mine out of province through a friend as a surprise gift but at bricks and mortar you get to look, see, feel etc. A dealer in Ontario had several probs with dented ones. Here in NS I've not encountered an issue, as the main Canadian distributor is out...

    Grainfather!!

I believe it was 1st generation that had the cap on the pump pipe...it was replaced with a mini ball valve...I've heard issues of it clogging but I've not had a problem with it. Other problems due to my learning curve but not with the basic plumbing I'm thinking lol.

New post a picture of your pint

Looks delicious...where can I find the recipe

    Grainfather!!

Yes, I believe I mentioned previously my kitchen has a range hood and 8 ft. ceilings...and a sliding door. The sink is close so it all works out well. But yes - if you have low ceilings, a fan would be a good recommendation.

    Grainfather!!

Not an issue...mine is in front of range hood and steam seems to be minimal...
