Spoke to this before...I made a Reflectix one and it was fine. I did however but a GF jacket when it became available. Why put an old ragged coat on a classy chassis? Wear the tuxedo for a few extra bucks. It will help protect it as well.

I've used them without any issues both cooking extract and in my Grainfather. I have two small 3" ones and a larger 4" one...I rarely use them as now I have my GF MJ hop basket...

The GF peeps have already dealt with this as the Robobrew has been out and concurrent to the GF...I like to tinker a bit but when it comes to serious sh!t like brewing and beer I don't **** around...turnkey and proven works best for me.

Isn't the element concealed? If you're thinking about the bottom/sides, I might suggest a wooden mash paddle. I used a plastic one and it's ok but I picked up a chunk of red oak and am going to spin up a couple of 36" custom wooden mash paddles.
