    Grainfather!!

So...you're saying that after adding the grain the temp drops 10F? If so, it makes sense as the grain enters the strike water at a much cooler temperature (room) and quickly absorbs water...that happens in cooking all the time. I'm new to all grain with my GF and have brewed extracts and cooked...

Can you ship beer to Canada for a contest and via Versa.

Shout out to oceanic... I'm in NS too...not a Newf - only an honorary as I kissed a cod way back whilst visiting on a brewery tour lol!

how long does your 5 gallon corny last before its tapped

Hmmmm...as a homebrewer id say you need a lot more practice. I'd tap a keg in a week easily by myself...but, I've had a lot of practice!

    Grainfather!!

That's exactly what I proposed...let me know how it works out ASAP as our GF controllers aren't in til February on this side of the line...I'm likely not brewing until then...just fermenting Festa all grains...

    Grainfather!!

I believe I suggested this before. In retrospect I would lose my sight glass and hence will go with my original plan, ie - to attach a mini ball valve to an extended silicone hose.

    Grainfather!!

My SO hates the smell and all things craft beerish. That being said, I'm semi-retired and she works so I brew when she's working and all is cleaned up by the time she's back. Double sinks are fine with aerator, composite floor, range hood for boil off. I'm planning on migrating everything to...

    Grainfather!!

Easy enough to put a small valve on some silicone tubing for fly sparging in fact, that's what I'll likely be doing. Or replacing the tap on the GF sparge vessel. With one that can handle the heat and control the flow. And I totally agree with the finicky knob whilst dialling in temps on the GF...

    Grainfather!!

I initially used a GF fermenter with a 1000W heatstick and had a Reflectix jacket. They both were fine but I like the sleek looks of the fellow equipment and figured in for a penny, in for a pound. Plus, one of my fermentors is free for beer.

    Grainfather!!

I believe the GF cord is five feet - not three. I put a Yellowjacket GFCI on the end - nor sure I needed it where I usually locate it but it's on. I would use a short as possible, heavy cord, say one meter 10 gauge grounded. If you cannot find one its not hard to wire one up. 60/40 Oxyclean/ TSP...

    Grainfather!!

Okay...I'm usually pretty good at following a thread and seeing we're sharing here...what is being sold at AIH for $150? The info on this thread leads me to believe it's not the GF controller...inquiring minds need to know[emoji106]

New post a picture of your pint

Always curious, as I've read about the Pico...I use a propane setup for extract and Grainfather for winter indoor. How do you like (love) your Pico?

    Grainfather!!

Yeah, it must be a new iteration of the chiller that shipped with V3 (new controller elsewhere but Can& US) Here is a pic from a New Zealand vendor...not sure the tube benefits...

    Grainfather!!

Oh oh...it's a counterfeit one made in China...wait a sec...they're all made in China! I'm not seeing a mini ball valve on the recirculating pipe on the left running through the lid...maybe it's a first generation leftover and not a difficult nor expensive upgrade to the latest version -...

    Grainfather!!

Here it is... I unscrew the aerator and slip the tube over the "o" ring threaded end, tighten up the butterfly clamp, attach it to the chiller and away we go...

    Grainfather!!

PCL, there are several attachments. I however had to jury rig one for my "designer" tap in the kitchen, as its one of the jobbies with an aerator on a pull down flex hose. I use a butterfly quick clamp and a small piece of hose adapter to lock on to the cold water in for the chiller. A simple...
