    Another eHerms brew setup

Hey Folks, Just wanted to post a few pics. Thanks to all the regulars for all the great posts. I dont think I would of had the courage to do anything like this from scratch 4 brews into this and my beer quality has definitely increased. The small green control panel is on a seperate 120v...

    Element rust no more!

I basically echo your feelings. One thing you could try is just dabbing a bit of cooking oil on the element face after you clean it. it has basically stopped the rust from re-occuring for me.

    Top tier knock off?

how about a 2 tier compromise? In the grand scheme of things the 150 for a pump isnt the end of the world on even a budget system.

    alright already, im going electric.

Im only 3 batches in on my new eherms setup, and let me tell you, im not sure the setup your coming from, but if it was like mine, this one is alot more "involved". Fly sparing, mash recirculation, pumps, controls, etc etc.. In some ways I miss the old propane days of gravity fed batch sparging...

Soldering a heating element mount - Hex vs. Coupling

The issue with the black gasket is some have said it gives off a rubbery flavour. Putting it in a cup of boiling water apparently reveals some of its taste i just went with silicone for peace of mind. its cheap insurance vs hunting for off flavours in my brew.

1" Stainless Steel lock nuts don't exist in Canada? Anyone have any luck?

I found a fantastic place in texas that sent me up 2 1" NPT locknuts. Dont worry about the NPT NPS non-sense, for a locknut there is no difference as there are only 2 or 3 threads that engage. Not nearly enough for the "taper". I will post the details tomrrow. They were around 20 canadian...

    Potential Ikea Electrical Enclosure?

So, the risk you are implying is that under a catrastrophic failure, the additional .02" material thickness will make the difference between someone in the hospital, and someone drinking a homebrew? I think you may need to step back and think about what are you trying to suggest. If arc fault...

    Potential Ikea Electrical Enclosure?

Wow.. I dont even know if you are worth responding to, but, just for your information, all i was doing was passing along what I thought was a good deal. And, the Canadian comments. Are you really that ignorant? We are world leaders in Health and Safety.
