Check your equipment or this could happen...

I was chatting with a buddy that this happened to in his kitchen - it shorted out his dishwasher! Doh!

Years of homebrewing leads to this!?

What if we do the opposite and start the day mixing some yeast in with our cereal?

Check your equipment or this could happen...

I really did consider this, but I think the garage floor with engine oil and such might lead to some off flavors!

Long story short to start sparging. I started brewing myself so I put the cooler next to the kettle to dump the mash water in without having to carry it far and lift it. I normally keep the mash tun on a platform for sparging. I'm hoping this brew will just be that much better because of...

Check your equipment or this could happen...

Had a big brewing FAIL last night while moving my mash cooler with my buddy - One of the handles busted (as seen here) and splat it all ended up on the garage floor. I almost called it a night there, but with much grit I re-milled 16 more lbs of grain and started it all over again! Everything...

Years of homebrewing leads to this!?

Hmmm I think it would take a while to ferment something like a bagel, right? wouldn't the acids kill off the yeast? Crazy if it's true! lol

    Group Buy in Chicago #9

Is anyone having issues adding a standard 32oz Star San to their list? I click the plus (add) button and it says successfully added, but then doesn't show up on the list.

I'd be interested in a split of both Notty & US-05. I still can't seem to add Star San to my list!

    Group Buy in Chicago #9

I don't know if I'm missing something here, but I can't seem to get into the forum link (says unauthorized user after I registered). There's no index of available items like the previous buy? I tried to add Star San, it said had been successfully added, but then it doesn't show up in the summary.

    Going to Lexington KY.

I went to Lexington for a wedding a last year and had a blast. I suggest you take a short drive toward Frankfort and spend half a day hitting up distillery tours like Woodford, Buffalo Trace, and Four Roses. Downtown Lexington has an amazing bourbon bar called the Horse and Barrel where they...

Old Broken Fridge (regular over under) on Side as Fermentation Chamber

Yes, the fridge is busted and the compressor no longer works. I may use some form of cooling device for the freezer once I get a hold of a mini fridge or something of the sort.

Old Broken Fridge (regular over under) on Side as Fermentation Chamber

I have read many articles of folks taking old broken fridges and using them as frozen bottle cooled fermentation chambers. What I have not seen is anyone putting one of these fridges on its side, which would give you a lot more real estate to fill with fermenting wort! I measured and I found...

    Scuba Tank Nitro Conversion

Just to close this thread I called around to local filling companies and nobody would fill the scuba tank with beer gas.

    75 gallon cornies!!

These are pretty sweet! I have an upright freezer and I don't think it would even fit in that! haha

    Scuba Tank Nitro Conversion

I was hoping to get the scuba tank filled with beer gas. Sorry I omitted that!

    Scuba Tank Nitro Conversion

So... Playing with this idea. I have: A Scuba tank A Paintball Air Tank (same fitting as CO2) A Scuba tank to paintball fill adapter The paintball tank comes with a high pressure regulator (2,700 PSI to 800 PSI). Then hook that up to the standard CO2 to regulator gas/CO2 adapter...

    Group Buy in Chicago #8

Not sure if everyone knows this, but if you head to your local bakery/grocery store bakery they often have 5 gallon buckets they bought of frosting you can use for storing grain. Swung by Jewel and picked up a few, but need a few more to store all of this goodness!

I'm a bit squeezed for time right now, but I am not too far from you. I may be able to make a quick trip tomorrow evening, but not sure. I'll PM you my cell so we can communicate. If you'll be in Elgin at all any time soon, I can meet you. I'm only about a mile north of downtown. Kory
