    Basic Hydrometer question

1.050 If it should be 1.000 at 60F, and it was 1.000 at 84F in water, then it is reading 0.003 high (if calibrated correctly should have read 0.997 in water at 84F according to the documentation in your manual). So you actually need to subtract 0.003 from your wort reading at 84F.

Richmond, Va has several awesome breweries: Ardent Triple Crossing Brewing Hardywood Isley Lickinghole Creek Center of the Universe Legend's (more historical than anything they have been around 20+ years, I don't think their beers are that great) Up in Stanton is Red Beard Brewing Blue Mountain...

    First Brewday is Saturday!

Really want to do a late extract addition (cause it really makes sense), but since it's my first brew (and I don't fully understand how to adjust the hop additions accordingly) I think I'm gonna stick to the recipe.

    First Brewday is Saturday!

Thanks for the comment, in "How to Brew" and on HBT, everything stated was number one thing that can be done to produce good beer is Fermentation Temp. so first thing on my list was a chamber. Yeah RVA yeastlabs is local to Richmond, Va. I have seen nothing but great things about RVA...

    Chest freezer fermentation chamber

Do you have two GFCI's or how did you get separate power to each outlet in the receptacle? Everything I'm seeing for GFCI's is that the second set of connections are for load only. I'm thinking about just installing a GFCI in the wall of my garage to put the entire unit on GFCI.
