    Score!!!

Well, hell of a lot cheaper than paying for a cylinder, so I'm not gonna argue much... It may still be good, guy's not even sure if it has anything in it or not. Might get really lucky and pick it up and find it has a full tank of CO2 in it already. Now, to pester my stepfather to find the...

    Score!!!

I just got offered a 10lb or 20lb (the guy says it's about 30" tall, so could be either...) CO2 tank for free. I won't have any more info on it till I pick it up, but I'm going to go with the assumption that it's expired and needs hydro tested. How much can I anticipate this costing, and what...

    Grape Ale???

No artificial sweetners, can't stand them, horrible metalic aftertaste (yes, splenda too...). Not really going for the artificial grape flavor of grape soda, prefer something that actually tastes like grapes. The stuff from foodzar looks promising, just a bit pricey. I'm not paying for the...

    Grape Ale???

That looks like it might work. A bit pricey, but hey, if he wants it that bad he can pay for it :p Thanks!! Now I just have to decide what recipe to use. Looking for something very pale and lightly hopped...

    Grape Ale???

I was looking to get the grape flavor without having a wine flavor from fermented grape. I want it to taste like beer with an essence of grape, not a mix of beer and wine.

    Grape Ale???

Adding juice during secondary would require either sorbating to prevent the concentrate from fermenting and then force carbing, which is quite possible for a commercially produced beer. Like I said though, I can't force carb a 5gal batch. I need something that I can bottle condition...

    Grape Ale???

I've been requested (well, more like pestered into it) by a friend to create a grape ale. I'm still relatively new to brewing, so I'm at a bit of a loss on where to start with this. I was figuring on just doing a blonde ale recipe and adding grape extract flavoring in secondary, but I can't...

DIY 3 Liter Pop Bottle Mini-Kegs

Check this one out http://home.swbell.net/bufkin/cheap_3_liter_kegs.htm, it's pretty much the same idea, but a bit simpler to assemble. I have one I just finished building. I'm currently carbing a 2l of gingerale as a test. It seems to work pretty well. A couple of hints - 1. Don't...

1 gallon Keg...Anybody seen one of these before?

I've spent the last hour looking all over the place and searching for every term and combination of terms I can think of and I can't find anything about a 1 gallon cornelius style keg even existing. I can't even find anything like it on ebay. When you get those in (I assume you don't have...

Chill haze in an extract batch???

Thanks for all the info. I don't have the fridge space to store all of them cold for extended periods of time, so I guess I just live with it.

Chill haze in an extract batch???

It spent a week in primary and two weeks in secondary, been in bottles for two weeks. It was a no boil kit, so no boil to use irish moss in. Crystal clear till I put it in the fridge. It's not a big deal, just didn't know if it was normal with a no boil extract kit.

Chill haze in an extract batch???

I brewed a Coopers kit, and I'm getting chill haze when I refrigerate it. Just a slight cloudyness, not a big deal, but was wondering if this is normal? It's only my second brew, and my first was a stout, so I wouldn't have noticed it in the first batch.

    Hate bottleing? Got ~$30?

Nah, more interested in getting into kegging first. Haven't had a problem with oxygenation yet. From what I can find, it's just a matter of changing out the fitting for the bottle, the regulators are otherwise pretty much the same for both. With QD's I could probably use it for both if I...

convert O2 regulator for CO2 use???

My stepfather has an oxygen regulator from an oxy-acetylene torch he said I could have (as soon as he finds it...). I'm guessing I can convert it to use for CO2 if I change out the fittings? Haven't been able to find any information on if it will work. Anyone done this before?? TIA!!

    Hate bottleing? Got ~$30?

Sweet, I'm halfway through bulding mine as we speak (SWMBO won't let me use my drill while she's watching Numbers...). That and I still need the CO2 injector and cobra tap. Picking those up tomorrow. Going to try it out on a bottle of ginger ale. :mug: * Edit* Well, got it built. Three...

    Back sweetening whithout lactose???

I've tried Splenda several times, still get the metalic aftertaste, not as strong as the chemical sweeteners, but I still can't stomach it. I don't keg as of yet, as I can't afford to drop several hundred dollars on equipment right now. What I need is a non-fermantable, non-artificial...

    Back sweetening whithout lactose???

Sorry, forgot to mention... artificial sweetners are disgusting :cross: I get a horrible, overpoweringly strong metalic aftertaste from any artificial sweetner, including Splenda. Need a natural non-fermentable backsweetener.

    Back sweetening whithout lactose???

I'm lactose intollerant :( Any suggestions for backsweetening a batch of apfelwien that is destined to be naturally carbed without using lactose. It's a bit dry for my tastes, but I'm at a loss for something besides lactose to backsweeten that is non-fermentable... TIA!!

    Hate bottleing? Got ~$30?

Well, I'm going to be picking up the bits and bobs to make one of these in the next few days. Have a batch of juicy juice mango I threw some sugar and champaigne yeast in that's clearing at the moment. Still a little yeasty tasting at the moment, only been a couple weeks. I'm going to use...

    Hate bottleing? Got ~$30?

Question?? Any reason why you couldn't force carbonate with this? Hit it with a good shot of CO2, shake for a bit, hit it again, shake some more, etc, like quick force carbing a keg? I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. Probably kill a CO2 cartridge doing it, but if you don't want...
