ARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Need three FFL to barb fittings by Friday!!!

Where is the best place to get 3 1/4" FFL to 5/16" barb swivels by Friday!?!?! My local brewshop is out and I can't find anyone charging under $50 to ship $10 in parts next day!!! Anyone know of a shop that will ship USPS? An express mail shipment should be under $20. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ARGHHH! Why can't stuff be just one freakin' size?

A one way valve is a good idea, however, it's much easier (and cheaper) to put a single check valve between the regulator and distribution block than one between each ball valve and keg, plus most of the better ball valves on the distribution blocks have an integrated check valve. That doesn't...

ARGHHH! Why can't stuff be just one freakin' size?

I didn't have any luck getting my 5/16" hose to seal on a 1/4" barb. The cheap clear vinyl hose from the hardware stores works, at least in the short term. You could pick up some 1/4" vinyl hose and use that to get you up and running untill you figure out what you want to do to rectify the...

ARGHHH! Why can't stuff be just one freakin' size?

The hose barbs on the ball lock fittings are 1/4". Why everything else is 5/16" I don't know, I had the same problem. I had to get ball locks with 1/4" flare fittings and pick up 1/4" flare to 5/16" barb swivel nuts... Kinda peaved me since I already had ball locks with 1/4" barbs on them. I...

    Cheap low pressure regulator.

I found this little sucker at Harbor Freight and was wondering if anyone else had considered using it as a secondary regulator? I picked one up and am going to give it a try. It is a diaphragm type regulator, so I'm thinking it should work in theory. If anyone else has tried one of these out...

    Parameters for force carbing Apfelwein

You won't be able to force carb with a warm keg. You need to chill the keg (and contents) down before it will absorb much CO2. I carb mine off of my Soda regulator at about 25-30psi. Comes out like champaign. I still need to pick up a secondary reg for the batch of beer that will be ready in...

    removing keg center tube

Actually, take a hand towel or rag or washcloth or something and lay it over the tap, then press down on the ball through the fabric with a large screwdriver. The rag keeps the stale beer from spraying all over the place. It just flows out from under the rag and spills everywhere. Not...

    5gal boil in keggle???

That would require buying another fermenter. I only have an ale pail and a carboy, and the carboy is dedicated to apfelwein. If it wasn't for the fact that SWMBO REALLY likes the apfelwein, she'd probably have killed me by now with all the brewing stuff I have sitting around...

    5gal boil in keggle???

Ok, it seems as though most people are using keggles for 10gal boils. I'm only doing 5gal batches, but have the opportunity to but together a keggle for free (don't even start on the ethics rants, I tried to return the keg to the local distributor when it was given to me and they told me I could...

    repitching onto yeast cake question...

I ran a batch of apfelwein on the cake from the previous batch once. Talk about an explosive fermentation... Was bubbling furiously within a couple of hours and overflowed the bubble lock within the first day. Definitely going with a blowoff tube next time I do that :cross:

    Soda Kegging

I have the same problem with my soda and apfelwein, they foam pretty good. I'm only using about 10ft of 3/16" line though, and it blasts out pretty good. Longer line is about the only thing you can do to improve the problem. You want to get the line long enough that you get a slow pour...

THIS is why you can't have too many cornies...

I just wish I had the money to keep, well, the bucket and carboy I have now going. Been wanting to start another batch for months and haven't been able to scrape together the $40 for ingredients, let alone buy any new equipment. Only thing I've been able to keep on tap is soda and apfelwein...

What to sub for the apparently scarce Notty yeast???

That would explain why damn near everybody is out of it. Looks like US-05 it is. Thanks for the help!

What to sub for the apparently scarce Notty yeast???

Oh, looking to do a batch of Orfy's MMA, however, Danstar Nottingham yeast seems to be a bit in short supply at the moment. What would make a good substitute for the Notty (dry yeast only please). Thanks!!

    Sanke to Ball Lock QD

I believe you can get corny lids that have a sanke fitting on them, I just can't remember where I saw them.

Where to get flat o-ring for ball lock gas in?

From having worked in injection molding, that looks like a defective part that slipped past the press operator and QC testing. The male end looks like a short fill, not quite enough plastic made it into the mold, or their was an air pocket that caused a slight edge defect where it's bowed...

    Carbonated Kool Aide?

I haven't tried carbing Kool Aide, but it's an interesting idea. You could try half/half sugar/splenda if you can tollerate artificial sweetners. I personally can't stand any of them, in any proportion. Other than that, give it a shot and see how it turns out.

    Pitch apfelwein on cake?

Well, I'd try pitching it on a wit cake, except I can't stand wheat beer, makes me sick to my stomach after less than half a glass, so it isn't exactly anywhere even CLOSE to the top of my priority list of things to brew.
