    STC-1000 Placed Inside the Keezer

I am building a new, small keezer to hold two kegs. What I want to do is place the CO2 regulator as well as STC-1000 build in the keezer in-order to make for a cleaner outside appearance. Has anyone placed all the electronics inside the keezer. I am wondering if the moisture / humidity...

    Water Conservation When Brewing

I have to haul water for brewing so I have been conserving water to save my aching back. I have a 40 gallon clean plastic garbage can that I hold my chill water, using a HF irrigation pump and my CF chiller. Prior to brewing i place 3 to 5 2 liter bottle of frozen water to cool the...

    Partigyle

One suggestion, on your first running and you have obtained enough wort, cap the mash with a few pounds of additional malt. I use about 3 to 5 lbs. I mix this all together in my mash tun and let it lit while I boil my first running. After I'm done with the first brew, I will drain the...

Where to plant Hop rhizome ???

Dito, Full sun and room to climb and you need something for them to climb up. The root system likes to run so you need to keep different varieties separated. They don't like weed killers so be careful. Once they are established they are really tough. Good luck.

    Brew Boss Systems

I have the 15 gallon and about 40 brews using the Brew Boss. Couple things. I had crash problems big time. After talking with Darrin, i moved than unplugged the micro wave on my bench, Shut down the blue tooth on my phone. These two items were causing interference. No problems...

    Brew Boss Systems

When using the traditional mash tun and brewing a big beer, I would be able to do a Parti-gyle second running. I have tried it once with the BB but the second running had such a low SG, I never finished the brew process. Has anyone else come up with a workable process to brew Parti-Gyle...

    Brew Boss Systems

MerlinWerks, thanks, i like you idea of pulling water for sparging. When you add the reheated sparge water, do you just poor it into the COFI? What temperature? 168? Good article and I like the idea a just using more water and then just use a longer boil. Would have to adjust your...

Can I keep a spare keg on hand?

I echo the IPA and APA fresh is best but I have had them waiting for over a month or two with no problem. My dark brews I age for sometimes over a year. My storage temp is about 40 to 50 degrees. One thing I do is, about once per month, I will give the keg a shot of CO2 at about 20 psi...

    Fermentation Chamber Door

An idea for door closures it to attach thin strips of sheet steel around the edges of the opening and then purchase magnetic door strip and attach to the door. Just like a refrigerator door. It seals well. Good Luck

    Brew Boss Systems

I had the crashing issue with the previous BB version. I visited with Darin about it a few time. What I was getting is interference with Blue tooth appliciation as well as my cell phone. (I listen to pod casts over a speaker) Also I had a plugged microwave next to my tablet. I cleaned up...

First Kegged Beer a Little Too Heady

Really, that head looks pretty good. I have found that I need to play with my CO2 pressure, I run at 7 to 8 psi. I will also get a keg that is a little over carbed, I will purge the keg a few times until it calms down. Good Luck.

    Questions about my fermentor build

Any foam insulation will what they call, Off Gas, It is a petro chemical product. When used in residential applications, it needs to be covered. The fumes will diminish over time but it can be bad. If it gets hot or is exposed to some chemicals the fumes can be even worse. Ihave had my...

    Questions about my fermentor build

Boo, The foam insulation emits fumes in a closed space. In my case, I don't know if I had a reaction with something else but is was real strong. I am looking to add a layer of thin plywood to cover the foam. When my chamber is not in use, I open the door and let it air / dry out. Good...

Why cant you get natural carbonation on a keg?

For what it is worth, With beers that I will let age of a couple of months, I always add about 1/4 cup priming sugar dissolved in boiled water then chilled, in to my 5 gallon keg. I then purge with CO2 and seal as usual. The kegs are left to sit. When I am close to tap, I will cold crash...

    Questions about my fermentor build

I used the high performance pink high density foam in my chamber, I taped all my seams with silver duct tape and did use plywood on the floor. On thing that happened is I had a major amount of off gasses that were very nasty. I tried washing it with no effect. It took about a month to...
