    aluminum triclover fittings

It's a new pot so upgrading is out of the question. Can I have ss triclover fittings welded, soldered, or brazed on and would that be wise? I'm not opposed to threads but the triclover ss ball valve brewers hardware sells is cheaper than threaded 3/4" ss ball valves. So I figured why not. I'm...

    aluminum triclover fittings

So I'm putting together the plumbing on my new rig and am incorporating some triclovers here and there. I'm not eliminating threads but minimizing them (less to disassemble and clean). My brew kettle is a 20 gal aluminum pot and I intend to use a 3 way triclover ball valve on it (brewer's...

    PWM Stir Plate Plans

Do try it and let us know how it works. It says it has a "control set" and the speed is adjustable but I don't see a knob anywhere. So I dunno..

    Foam and Sticky Tap

Interesting. I have never had the sticky tap problem unless the tap sits unused for several days. I'm in FL where the average daily humidity is 75%.

    Nitrogen

I think the basics have been covered by everyone else but I would add that beergas is usually, but not always, sold in CO2 tanks. Check with your local gas supplier. If they do want it in a nitro tank you do not have to buy a new regulator. The CO2 regulator will work fine you just need an...

    Wtb silicone tubing

Yuri, what's odd is 51135K41 (the cheap 1/16" wall thickness one) is .5" id and 5/8" od, this would necessitate a wall thickness of 1/8" right? Must be the id or od is incorrect..

    Need advice on a pump...

I agree. I suspect *but do not know* that the heads and maybe the whole pump come from China. They're probably waiting on the boat to arrive. That's probably how they can sell them so cheap. That or march is seriously marking up the price. Yeah, they definitely have a good product and lots...

    Vinyl tubing for tap lines

I just noticed the 1 dollar per foot was the price of the beer line.. not the home depot line which is no doubt in the .20 to .30 per foot range. So the accuflex isn't cheaper.. just in the same ball park. Clearly my reading comprehension is terrible :cross: must be all the lead from my brass...

    Need advice on a pump...

Yeah, I saw it on the face book page. http://www.facebook.com/chuggerpumps Look at the post from Chuggerpumps on Sept. 19th. This link may take you straight there.. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=252420714801250&set=a.141958972514092.14354.141782755865047&type=1 Look closely at the...

    Need advice on a pump...

I thought I recalled reading that somewhere. Perhaps it was on their facebook page in the comments section. I'll look for it. Anyway, I agree they're missing out by not meeting demand but, then again, they do seem to stand behind their product, it is a good product by all accounts, and the...

    Vinyl tubing for tap lines

Get some of the accuflex tubing. Birdman brewing is selling 100ft rolls for 40 cents a foot. It's top notch tubing although a bit stiff. I'm happy with it and I paid about thirty bucks for a hundred feet because I got in while the getting was good. You'd pay about the same for a measly 20ft...

    Need advice on a pump...

Get the center inlet if you can, increased head and more gpm. I don't think the br-c model costs any more than the regular one. I believe chugger is redesigning their head to go with a center inlet but am not positive.

    Foam and Sticky Tap

Hmmm.. I'm basing this on experience, nothing scientific. I'm pretty sure my old vinyl hose was 1/4" and I'm using the accuflex bev seal 3/16" now. I could be wrong though. If you've got the facts from the manufacturer then I defer to your advice.

    Foam and Sticky Tap

How long is your beer line. LHBS almost always sell a line that is too short. You could have 2 problems going - over carbed beer and an unbalanced system. 1/4" line should probably be 10ft and 3/16" line should be about 8ft or so.

    Foam and Sticky Tap

It's posts like this that have always made me leery of perlick. That and the shank fit issue. My cheap chrome ones have served me fine for years. Everytime I think about upgrading I see another post like this and change my mind.

    Need advice on a pump...

Yes, it does. Evidently as much as 8% lead. It aids in the machinability of the fitting. Read the NSF link I posted, lots of good info there. My understanding is that the NSF-61 guideline for lead leaching is voluntary - you can have your product certified or not. The percent lead also does...

    Need advice on a pump...

To follow up: I thought about chugger and would've probably gone that route but they're entirely out of stock (plastic heads too) and I was impatient. In regards to lead I found the following statement from NSF: http://www.nsf.org/business/water_distribution/faq.asp Apparently lead isn't even...

Return lines (Not at Wal-mart after Christmas)

I'm facing the same dilemma now. I like the lid option and will probably go that route but, obviously, you can't hard plumb those lines. I'm writing not so much to share my opinion since I haven't done either but to express a shared interest in your question.
