Trial #1 is in the fermenter. Brew day went pretty well. 70% efficiency with 5 gallons at 1.067. Why is 70% making me feel crappy? I am assuming that I will need to add 1 lb of dextrose to get up in the 8% range. I plan on doing that in a few days...then start the heat ramp...

What is the orientation of the head? I have 2 chuggers w SS heads. They are mounted w the inlet at 9 oclock and the valved outlet at 3 o'clock. I get the same freakn thing. I throttle back the valve and everything. The only thing that helps is to shut it down and restart after a few...

Tknice - I have done probably 5 ten gal batches. I have not noticed a difference. However - I usually use a hop bag. The last 2 batches with no hop bag - we will see if those are any different...

Great job on the details! One question - why do you switch back and forth between fermenters when filling from the BK? I do 10 gallons batches. I currently fill one then the other. Just wondering if I am missing something...

Beergolf - thanks for the idea. After I add the sugar (after 4 or 5 days in the primary) - exactly how fast do ramp up the temp? Example - 3 degrees per day until you reach 80F?
