    Protein Rest Question

With all the current hype about how protein rests are not needed, I thought should ask about one, for I have never done one yet with AG. I am using 5lb of flaked wheat in a 5 gallon batch. Should a protein rest be done? For 30 minutes? Should I use rice hulls during the process? Thanks

    Wort Chiller

I did a similar operation as ewbish, but for some additional cash, I got 20 feet of 5/8 copper tubing and 20 feet of 1/2 inch vinyl tubing. It works fantasic, great flow. I think it was $20 more than ewbish's set up. They are fun to make too! All I did was wrap it around a corny keg.

    Stuck sparge...what do I do!!!!

Just putting in my suggestion. Use a flase bottom if you can. I have used false bottems every time doing AG and I have never had a problem. I use a 5 gallon igloo container with a 9inch stainless false bottem and have used a plastic one as well. Never had a problem. Depending on the size, u can...

    Corny Keg

Hey ya'll, I just bought my first corny keg; used. It is in good condition, but I am going to referb it. Springs are good inside the ball joint. I ordered a new o-ring set. I am going to rinse it out a few times then let it sit with water for a while, then rinse it again. Anyone have any...

    College Students and Beer Head.

There are alot of us homebrewers in college! I go to a small school and there are about 6 of us in my class of 400 that I know brew. Alot of people binge, but alot of people have some class in college too. If I had to guess I would say the larger state system schools tend to be worse. I have...

    Crossing boarders

Just as a preface, I am a law student. The laws were created before transferring a homebrew might have been an issue, so there is no legislative intent on what to do with homebrews. So it is unclear what the statutes mean by "beer." Do they mean beer that has had a tax paid upon it and the...

    Crossing boarders

Sorry with the lack grammar skills, posted that when I woke up. Yea, I was just wondering because this will not be a licensed-sealed-product. Since it is a homebrew, the boarder officials could think that it could be anything in those bottles because it will not have an "official" label or...

    Crossing boarders

Hello all, I will be traveling to Canada this summer for a fishing trip. Anyone know if I can bring some homebrew across the boarder? I know you can only bring 24 12 oz. bottles per person of age, but I have not found anything about it being a homebrew. This might just be a fuzzy area of the...

    Milled grain

Once you have milled your grains, how long can you wait before you brew? Is a week too long, even if I keep it very dry? I usually brew the day I mill, but it may not work out this time. Thanks in advance!
