    Dry Yeast Derived from Augustiner?

Does Lallemand have a version of WLP860?

    Dry Yeast Derived from Augustiner?

WLP860 is supposedly one of the Augustiner strains. I can't believe they are making dry yeasts now! I'm very excited about this. It will be hard to find, though. Thank you!

    Dry Yeast Derived from Augustiner?

I am looking for a dry yeast derived from Augustiner. I know most of the origins are speculation, and my research has yet to lead me to a definitive conclusion. Mangrove Jack M76 is my best bet for a dry yeast that is/could be derived from the Augustiner strain. Thoughts? Thanks for the input!

Max dry hop in Grainfather conical

Reading the Grainfather documentation for their fermenter leads me to believe that it can handle under 7oz of hops without clogging. What has been your experience with the max dry hop amount before you’re forced to use the dump valve?

Does HopsDirect vacuum pack their hops?

I contacted HopsDirect, and they agreed that something wasn't right; they are sending me a new shipment! Very happy that this is all going to turn out right!

Does HopsDirect vacuum pack their hops?

Yes, this is the next step. Hopefully it’s an easy process.

Does HopsDirect vacuum pack their hops?

Well I did the squeeze test, and on at least 2 of the bags I could smells hops while squeezing them. 2 had basically vacuumed themselves back up after being in the freezer. So that leaves a few questionable bags left. I’m feeling pretty disappointed at this point.

Does HopsDirect vacuum pack their hops?

Most of the bags look like this. I'm not 100% certain it's holes, but it sure looks like them, and they basically all have them.

Does HopsDirect vacuum pack their hops?

I received my first shipment from HopsDirect, and it was very beat up. Long story short, I thought they vacuum-packed all their products; all mine are full of air and appear to have some small holes in them. I'm worried about that. Have you all received your hops vacuum-packed from them?

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

Has anyone tried warm fermentation with Cellar Science German yeast yet? I assume it's the same as 34/70, but looking for warm fermentation experience here.

    Yet another low OG thread

Another possibility: If you sampled your wort while it was still hot from the kettle, as you mentioned, you could also get a much lower reading if you didn't correct the temperature. Using a hydrometer calculator, 1.045 wort at a temp of 138F is actually 1.060 if your hydrometer was calibrated...

    Yet another low OG thread

Well that sounds pretty good, my next guess would be you have a different brew house efficiency than used in your recipe calculations. This can happen if you do brew in bag based on a recipe you didn’t write like from a book or magazine.

    Yet another low OG thread

There are many number of reasons why your OG reading could be bad. For instance, if you are using a hydrometer, the hydrometer can stick to the tube and give a false reading. Make sure its freely floating. Tell us a little more about your process.

    Glycol for 5 gal kegs?

Yep! Thats exactly what I was thinking in my mind. I love HBT, someone always knows! Thanks!
  15. Bullhog

    Glycol for 5 gal kegs?

Are there any glycol solutions for kegs? It seems that there would be a market for that. I have a Grainfather system, and it can't do pressure fermentation, but my plethora of kegs can; I just can't temp-control those.

    Post-fermentation bittering

I was afraid your source wouldn’t be in the states. Interesting shop name!

    Post-fermentation bittering

Do you know of a good source to get any on the homebrew level? I couldn’t find any.

    Post-fermentation bittering

I plan to keg it without adding bittering hops, as I am also using aroma hop oil extract at kegging. The extract might be enough to make the whole situation work, but it adds no bitterness. After tasting it as is, I have a strong feeling I will be upping the IBUs to save this batch. It will be...

    Post-fermentation bittering

So, after trying hopshot for the first time, a lot of it never made it into the wort and instead collected on the bottom of the kettle. Trying the beer in the fermenter leaves me believing it will be grossly unbalanced. So, I've determined that the only way I can increase bitterness...

Do NOT taste the Hopshot extract!

I would gladly eat an entire bakers chocolate bar than face the pain of that rice grain sized smear of hop extract again!
