A Bitters Taste-off video - Angostura vs Fee Brothers

My uncle SWEARS that Fee Brothers makes the best bitters on the market. Being a fan of Old Fashions (and science), I decided to put it to the test with a good ol' fashion (ha! see what I did there?) blind taste-off. What's your bitter brand of choice? CpWuuBesr9w

1 Pliny for 1 Kentucky Breakfast Stout + 2 Gumballheads = good deal?

Hi All, I just started getting into the beer trading seen and I don't want to get bamboozled. I picked up a couple bottles of Pliny The Elder a couple days ago from the brewery and someone offered me a Kentucky Breakfast Stout + 2 Gumballheads. Good deal or Bad deal in your opinion...

Heading to Russian River Brewery tomorrow - any advice?

Well, i made it about half way through the sampler. I figured that wasn't bad since there are 21 beers on it! $250 later my wife's gunna kill me!!! Hopefully I saved a few bucks for flowers. Maybe she'll stop off while she's driving me home :)

Made starter, small bubbles after a couple days...

@antony - thanks for the reply. Clearly there is some activity happening...it's just VERY slow and there's not much to see visually. There is definitely a decent layer of yeast at the bottom of the jar, so I'm probably going to roll the dice a use it on Sunday. Wish me luck!:mug:

Made starter, small bubbles after a couple days...

I was planning to make my first lager this weekend. I decided to follow the general consensus and make a starter with my WLP930. I started it on Wednesday evening (2 days ago) and made a simple 1040ish wort with some LME and shook it around in a sanitized mason jar. Day 2 morning - No sign...

Heading to Russian River Brewery tomorrow - any advice?

@sudbuddy Thanks for the pics. How many ounces were those "1 of everything" glasses. I'll probably do that, and plan to just pace myself and hydrate along the way!

Heading to Russian River Brewery tomorrow - any advice?

That sounds great! I won't be able to share them because I'll be there by myself. The good news is that my wife will be at the shower for at least 3 hours, so I'll have plenty of time to relax and enjoy :)

Heading to Russian River Brewery tomorrow - any advice?

Hi All, My wife is going to a baby shower in Santa Rosa on Saturday, so I'm going to tag along and have her drop me off at the brewery! :ban: I've just recently gotten into sour/funky beers and started brewing a couple myself. I'm hoping to bring some good bottles back home too to last a...

    Hope schedule for this?

So here is a quick video I took a couple weeks ago after just a week in the bottle. I'll take another video of a blind tasting side by side with the real thing. I ended up hitting almost 70% efficiency, which means I overshot my ABV (since I loaded up the grain bill assuming my efficiency...

Pitched bugs and sacch in bucket, so...

Just brewed my second sour ale yesterday and pitched both sacch and a bug blend together in the wort which, just 24 hours later, has taken off. My question is - if it builds a nice funky, moldy, krauzen in the bucket during primary, is there any disadvantage to racking it to secondary? I want...

    Hope schedule for this?

Came out great! It's strong and a little more grippy than the real thing, but quite tasty! Tasted like sweet honey, pine, and juicy mangos. I'll do a side by side blind tasting with the real thing and post a link!
