    gelatin finings?

Perhaps "cloudy" didn't properly describe my issue. I've got a beer with some chill haze to it. This thing is muddy. Light cannot even begin to penetrate it. Can chill haze get that bad? I looked at it again last night. There are globs in suspension. Not sure what they are, but they are not...

    gelatin finings?

Well, I've read through this entire thing and don't see my problem being experienced by any one else. I bought gelatin finings from the home brew store, followed the directions and added to my already cooled secondary, which was at ~50. The dropped it to ~35. It's been that way for six days. A...

MalFet's bottle washer for lazy homebrewers

That thing looks like a beast... That's what I was shooting for with mine, but after 10+ hours and not a lot of progress, I gave up and went with the original design. It's not as sturdy as what I was shooting for, but only took me 2 hours to put together.... Can't wait to see this thing...

MalFet's bottle washer for lazy homebrewers

A buddy of mine does this.... I plan on trying it with my next batch... I'm thinking a 5 gallon bucket and a few bags of ice should do just fine... I believe he said he can get to pitching temps in 5-10 mins.

    Beginner Start up

+1 on the Big Pot, and Auto-siphon, Vinator and bottle tree. I'd also throw in my suggestion is for a fermentation setup. It cost me $20 for the temp control, and a $50 chest freezer on Craigslist, the difference has been amazing, and with you being in East Tx (Dallas here,) YOU'RE GOING TO...

MalFet's bottle washer for lazy homebrewers

Originally, I'd wanted to do an all copper version, I'm much better at cutting an sweating together Copper than CPVC. Seems counter intuitive, but true. It came down to cost in the end. When priced out, the frame and couplers were going to run in the $50-60 range. End the end, this is what I...

MalFet's bottle washer for lazy homebrewers

Spent several more hours over the course of last week messing with my concept. Found that what worked as a dry fit, wasn't as good when I pulled it apart and started trying to glue it all together. Nothing was lining up anymore. It was just a disaster. I got half way through then decided I was...

MalFet's bottle washer for lazy homebrewers

Finally got mine all put together last night... The idea of using a seperate T for each and evey vertical run seemed like a good idea, but the actual execution of it was BRUTAL. I must have spent 5+ hrs on this little project. Not that I mind, if I weren't working on this, I'd be tinkering with...

MalFet's bottle washer for lazy homebrewers

Feel like I'm high jacking this thread, so tell me to back off if I'm being uncouth, but I'm enjoying this build and wanted to share.. this is a side by side of the ideas i had. On the right was my original idea. 1/4" pex 1/4 to 1/2 reducer fitting, 1/2" cpvc nipple into 1/2" tee. On the...

MalFet's bottle washer for lazy homebrewers

Well, I found the crate, but not on lowes... This link is more expensive but it shows the crate at least... http://www.amazon.com/United-Solutions-Large-Plastic-Storage/dp/B003TUV4OY/ref=pd_sim_hg_2 Turns out it's a filing crate. Not a milk crate. But it holds 29 bottles snugly, so it works for...

MalFet's bottle washer for lazy homebrewers

I tried to track it down online, but couldn't find it... Even searched using the SKU #. I found the crate in the Home Organization department. There were quite a few of them, I'm actually probably going to go back and grab more because they fit perfectly side by side in the shelves I have. It'll...

MalFet's bottle washer for lazy homebrewers

I love this idea, and went to the store last night to get the parts. They didn't have specifically what I wanted so I'm playing around with a couple of ideas. I've made a few modifications to give a more finished look, and in the end think it will hold up better over time. I'm still using CPVC...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

So, I "KIND" of made this a few weeks ago. My fourth batch of beer was a brown ale P.M. kit that I tried to rush through on a week night. Ended up using too much water, so what was supposed to yield 5.5 Gal into the fermenter ended with 6.25. OG was low, so I boiled up some DME to get me to the...

RDWHAHB being put to the test.

Contrary to his warning, I feel that when I make his "black widow" porter, it wouldn't be in style to abstain. I'm going to have to track one down when the time comes...

RDWHAHB being put to the test.

I think a spare grommet or two, and perhaps installing the hose BEFORE putting it over the beer might be a suitable solution. Again, I'm not SUPER worried about it, but being so new, I can't help myself sometimes...

RDWHAHB being put to the test.

Well, the bucket is full of sanitizer and water, and the hose is only barely submerged so wouldn't get a whole lot sucked into the beer. Couple of Oz at the most, still wouldn't want that... It's amazing that I spend so much time studying these forums, and focus on getting everything right, and...

Awe crap! Never even though about suck back, I guess that'd siphon every once of that back into the beer huh?!? I'll get right on that!

RDWHAHB being put to the test.

Here are the fruits of yestedays efforts. Easier to not worry when I know I have at least 10 gallons of other goodies in the works as well...

RDWHAHB being put to the test.

This is my first thread, and of course, I love the site/obsession. Yesterday I brewed my fifth batch since getting my kit for christmas. It's the "Robust Porter" from JZ's "Brewing Classic Styles" (Forgive me if the title isn't accurate, don't have the book handy, but I think most here are...
