    Any Professional Firefighters

I don't ride the trucks anymore but still on the job with 31 years under the belt. I now answer 911 and 7 digit lines and tell the others where to go as a fire dispatcher. I work in a rural area with a small population compared to most of you but we cover many square miles and numerous towns. Doug

    Stuck ferment or ???

Not at all. This beer has a very normal mouth feel. It is a malty beer but no way near a stout in feel.

    Stuck ferment or ???

I am having a lot of trouble with a batch of my Anadama Amber. This is the fifth batch and the first to give trouble. I bewed on 9-11-07 and my only variation of recipe was instead of steeping 2 lbs of flaked wheat I only used 1 lb plus 1 lb of wheat DME. I used White Labs WLP008 started in 1/2...

    Crufts?

Did you get to see any Newfs or Goldens? My breeds. It is interesting to see the difference in the types of dogs that advance between US and the UK. Your dogs are more natural and there is a much bigger and I think better emphasis at Crufts on performance as opposed to the beauty shows here...

    German Shepherds

Many GSDs in the US are being bred for the highly sloping rear. I would look for one of the older style with the more level back. They are more likely to have better hips. If a breeder refused to show me OFA or Penn Hip certificates for hips and elbows on the parents I would run away. I would...

    Dogs and fermentation

At our house the dogs will ignore the fermenter but love to eat the spent grains. The two Maine Coon Cats however will hang around the fermenter both watching the air lock bubble as well as putting their nose right up against the top to smell the escaping gas. The animals that really love the...

    Anadama beer

I thought that some might like to get a review from my Anadama recipe. I furnished the beer for the SWMBO family Christmas get together. I brought along my Mad Dog Oatmeal Stout and the Anadama. The stout went OK for the brother in law that likes a heavier beer but all gave rave reviews for the...

    Anadama beer

[ Congrats on your success. You might yet get converted to hoppy beers, they certainly are some of my favorites] Blender, I do like some hoppy beers very much but am very particular about which hops. I love the Saz of Pilsner Urquell and have just brewed an ale with lots of Saz. It...

    Anadama beer

It is the yellow label. Is the green label the sulphured or is that a sign of light vs dark?

    Anadama beer

I used "Grandma's" original molasses. There is no indication of light or dark on the label. It happens to be the dominant brand in our area. I was also surprised based on what I have read in the posts of others involving molasses. It is definitely just a balanced part of this beer.

    Anadama beer

When I first posted this recipe and got no responses I was concerned that I had somehow brewed a disaster. I assumed that no response was everyones way of being polite about a pending bad beer. I am pleased to advise that this beer came out very nice and was what I was hoping for. I am not a...

    Anadama beer

I brewed up a recipe I got from a nearby LHBS that grabbed my interest. This is my 4th batch since starting and all the others have been from kits with adjunct grains. So far the results are interesting. Here is the recipe: 6 lbs. amber malt extract 2 lbs. wheat 1 lb. flaked maize 2 cups...

    advice needed for second batch

I brewed up my second batch Sunday. It is an English Brown Ale kit from Brewers Best and is a partial grain kit. I followed the instructions closely and did not add anything beyond the kit. This is my second Brewers Best kit with the first being their Red Ale. In the first kit I did add a...

    NH intro

Greetings, I have just started brewing with a red ale almost gone and a brown ale just started. I have been using Brewers Best kits so I get experience with all aspects of this with a little grain, some extract and DME. My red ale turned out very nice and has received nice comments from...
