    Best Advice You've Ever Received

If you're going to be a bear, might as well be a grizzly Don't let your mouth get you into what your ass can't cover

    any telescope owners?

I have a 10 inch dobsonian mount reflector by Orion and an 80 mm refractor by Stellarvue that serve me very well. Having had several scopes I find the simpler the better for a while until one gets to know how deep you want to get into the hobby. The Orion is complete as is with only a few...

Who stinks out the bathroom worse, Men or woman?

We had a pair of Golden Retriever brothers we rescued from a puppy mill. We called them the paint peelers when they let loose. They won the contest hands down. Neither of the humans were even in the contest.

Semi OT: What is the "jet" of a leaf blower and how do I adjust it?

Buy a new spark plug!! Very important first step. Fouled plugs in two strokes can look OK but a replacement makes all the difference. Not a bad choice to have a spare around anyway. Run some carb cleaner through as mentioned and keep putting a small amount in the gas ( capful at a time ) until...

    I Hate People

Sometimes it seems to come in waves. Some nights we have a hard time just getting any call from a normal citizen. One night it got so bad we all started wearing tin foil helmets hoping we wouldn't hear the voices. LOL

Yay Arizona Is Going To The Stupidbowl!!

I'm glad to see Warner going. I think St Louis let him down letting too many of his team leave after they won the Super Bowl. Is it ironic that the Cardinals used to be a St Louis team?

    I Hate People

Brother Decojuicer. I just started my 28th year dispatching and taking 911 calls as well as 7 digit calls. I completely agree that much of the public is learning challenged. Many times I think Darwin was wrong. Some are so stupid they shouldn't be able to reproduce but they do. I have been in...

    My wife is nuts

I guess we would be the exception here. Four Goldens - dad and three sons, two Newfs - both special needs recues, and two Maine Coon cats - both rescues. Animal fur is considered a food group and normal part of everyday life. We also take in rescues of almost any breed as needed and especially...

    Bringing home the bacon.

I tell people where to go. Public safety dispatcher and 911 call taker. I take the calls and tell cops, firefighters and EMS personnel where to go. In my other life I rescue dogs and find them new homes.

    Pets and when its time.

Having been doen this same road too often, I send my condolences. They gave you unconditional love. You gave them the ultimate but hardest gift possible. May the memory of them be only full of the positive thoughts. Hoisting a glass of porter in their honor. Doug

    Farewell to a dear friend....

My deepest condolences. We raise Goldens and rescue Newfs with special needs. We have to say good bye too often so we know what you are feeling. In my opinion you get a double man card for this. You had the strength to give her the final gift by setting her free. She will be with you forever...

    John Adams Mini series

I have watched the first three epsiodes and am enjoying the series so far. Tonights was the least favorite so far. I thoughts the episode of him in France and Holland was too vague and did not follow the book to give the viewer a feel for the conflict between him and Franklin enough clarity...

    priming question

Thanks for the input. I reprimed and bottled lasy night. I went light on the corn sugar with 3 oz to make it safer. The night of the emergency I did have the presence of mind to cover the bottling bucket. A sample on bottling was nice and has promise. The recipe was off the top of my head and it...

    priming question

I have a batch of stout that was ready to bottle and added the priming sugar when a family emergency came up. I had to drop everything and by the time we got home I had to just put the beer back into a carboy for the night. Then work got too hectic for several days and the beer is in...

    low carbed Hobgoblin

Roaring Brewer Thanks for your input. With the price of heating fuel what it is, they are as warm as they are going to be until Spring comes. We have been enjoying them as the falvor is great but we just wish for a bit more carb. I will take your advice and leave well enough alone. I have found...

    low carbed Hobgoblin

I am definitely in a cold part of the counrty. We just broke 32F ambient for the first time in over 3 weeks. The room where I bottle condition is right next to the furnace so that we have to damp down the register to keep it from over heating and is as warm as any in the house. Without putting a...

    low carbed Hobgoblin

Brewed Orfy's Hobgoblin and it is very tasty but I ended up with low carbonation. It is carbed but barely. The bottles were cleaned and well rinsed and the temp in the room has been high enough for other beers so this is not an issue. I have waited several weeks since opening the first bottle...
