    22 years...

Oct 23 will make 28 years for us and hoping for lots more. SWMBO doesn't drink much and hates beer but encourages my homebrewing. She has put up with the odd hours and working holidays and weekends of public safety for our entire marriage. Definitely a keeper.

    Bicycling Mag gets it right

The Bicycling Magazine web site just listed 12 beers as suggestions for an after ride recovery beverage. Not a BMC in sight. Some one on their staff is obviously is very beer oriented. Many HBTers will agree with their choices...

Do you repeat the same beer purchase?

I find myself split down the middle. I have a group of favorites but also try to experiment with new types and brands. I usually get one sixer of a favorite and one new one. I have not been into good beer as long as many of you so I have more to learn from experimenting. This is one of the many...

    Low rent, bad taste

The following page appears today on MSNBC about the Masters: http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/36402056/ns/sports-golf/ Along side the very nice touching story of Mickelson's classy win and the meeting with his wife at the 18th hole are 4 stories about Tiger and his infidelity etc. If the news...

how do you heat your home

We heat 1500 sq ft with a Thelin pellet stove as primary. We have a fireplace for when it gets really cold and also have kero fired forced hot air as back up. Boar Beer - I assume those boar and Elk came from C Park. If you live in the close we are almost neighbors. We are just to the north...

    Scotch. Gimme your faves

Excellent choices on both. If you like the smoke of the Oban, then a Highland Park should get a consideration for the future. They have more of a smoke presence throughout to my tastes. I like the 12 and 18 the best. The 15 is nice but I personally like the other two more. I agree with Mullenite...

    Scotch. Gimme your faves

Highland Park in any age with the 18 obviously superior. Possibly the best there is. Dalwhinnie 15 Balvenie 15 Talisker 10 or if I want peat I go to: Lagavulin 16 (very smooth and complex) Laphroaig Quarter Cask (nice balance of malt and peat) Ardbeg 10 ( big peat - an acquired taste)

    I loooooooooooveee Bourbon

May I suggest trying Elijah Craig 12 and 18. Both are nice and complex. Both are excellent neat as well as in Manhattans. The price is also nice compared to some of the more highly advertised brands. Scotch is my other favorite with Speyside and Islay brands being my favorites.

    United States beer consumption

Interesting observation here. NH is shown as the highest New England state. The truth is that our taxes are much lower and prices the same so a large amount of our sales come from VT, ME and MA as people cross the border to buy booze. We look like drunkards on the surface but are actually the...

the_Wife wants me to buy a bike (advice)

Bird, Congrats on your purchase. I was a mechanic at a Honda & Suzuki shop when the CX500 was introduced. That is the origin of your engine and frame. I loved that bike and it was quite bomb proof with normal routine maintenance. It sounds like the former owner knew what he was doing. Here's...

everyone have a drink for my POOCH tonight

Will have one for Integra when I get off work. I know it's hard but it is the ultimate gift we can give them. I cry as much as SWMBO when we have to do it. May the pain be brief and the good memories of her forever.

    grilled breast

We also use Good Seasons Italian mix and about half the time I use Balsamic vinegar instead of apple cider vineger. Makes for a nice variation and is equally delicious.

    What Are You?

I am about 95% English ancestry with almost all ancestry tied to the Mayflower. The 5% is French Canadian probably based on the name Ladieu. Those not tied to the Mayflower arrived very soon after into Boston or Salem.
