    Did I pitch enough?

The yeast rehydrated well and I used it at 30 mins after rehydrating. The wort and yeast temps were definitely with 10F. So I'm pretty sure I did all I could there. So I guess I just hope they don't get too stressed by the higher gravity. So would you say it's a bad idea to pitch the Danstar I have?

    Did I pitch enough?

I pitched the yeast in to the wort at pretty much identical temperature. Around 70-75F. I pitched last night. About 14 hours ago. Nothing doing so far but I'm not really concerned with that yet. So from what I gather my FG might be a little high? So slightly lower ABV. Is there potential for...

    Did I pitch enough?

Thanks. Sooo, what will the effects of this be? And yes it was a 5gal batch. Should I pitch a little more?

    Did I pitch enough?

I just made a double IPA. My OG was right on at 1.080. I pitched a standard rehydrated pack of Safale US-05 (11.5g). I thought it would be fine as that's all that came in my kit. Now I'm a little worried I didn't pitch enough with this high gravity ale. Should I have pitched more? Is it too late...

    Hop/Malt Balance

Thanks. According to the calculator everything looks like it will be right on target.

    Hop/Malt Balance

I figured that it would come down to AA. It just seems like such a substantial difference to the original recipe. The columbus I have are 15.2 AA and the Cascade are 7.2AA. Also, yes the corn sugar is a recipe ingredient. Is there a link for a good recipe calculator?

    Hop/Malt Balance

I recently ordered a double IPA recipe kit. The hops in these kits always vary due to availability but this time there seems to be a big difference. The original recipe called for 4oz of Columbus, 2oz of Zythos Aroma and 2 more ounces EACH of various bittering and flavouring hops. What...

    Quick gravity question!

I recently brewed my first ever batch. An APA. The recipe called for an OG of 1.051-1.055. I accidentally put a little too much water in. About .5 gallons. So my OG was 1.047. Today, I took a gravity reading as I plan to bottle this weekend. It's been 2.5 weeks. The recipe called for an...

    How long do kits last

I'm wondering the same thing. Looking to buy some recipe kits to keep around for spontaneous brewing. I'll definitely keep the yeast in the fridge but I'm curious about the hops. Should they be put in a ziplock and frozen?

    best place for supplies: Canada

http://www.torontobrewing.ca/servlet/StoreFront These are the guys I've been dealing with. As expected the prices are a bit higher than NB and companies like that. But, there selection is excellent and they are awesome to deal with. Anything you order shouldn't take more than fives days to...

Fermentation can take 24 to 72 hrs to show visible signs.

I'm actually in a bucket to, but by shining a light on the back you can see the ring of foam pretty well. I also might have took a really quick peek.

Fermentation can take 24 to 72 hrs to show visible signs.

Brewed my first ale 3 days ago. Looks to be 2-3inches of nice yellow foam on top that started within the first twelve hours. Had some issues with my pitching/initial fermentation temperature. Had my stick on thermometer too high up on my fermenting bucket that had my pre boiled water in it so...

    Hello from Canada!

Toronto to be specific. Originally from Southern New Brunswick though. Just finished brewing my first batch 2 days ago. An APA. Kept it simple. A few temperature issues with my fermentation but everything seems to be under control now. Had a blast doing it and can't wait to start my next batch...
