    Supplies

I think casings wise, the interwebs will be your best choice. Why pay the butcher extra for them? I'm gonna try making deer sausage with kit that came from cabelas. Also, my parents have plenty of trees for me to get smoke wood from.

Baltimore looking for a place to brew, any advice?

You are gonna pay a lot of money to have a space with sinks, water, electric, and drains. Baltimore is pricey. To have a space that will support an "elaborate setup", you're probably looking at a lot of dough. The other issue, is that a commercial space will want to know what you're using it...

    Unintended Consequences...

I will agree with the .30-06 at a distance. But if I had a bear at my fence, I rather have a semiauto shotgun full of slugs. But, all I have to go on is second hand info. A guy I works with has hunted in Africa. He shot a lion, but apparently you get to hit it with the first round, and the...

    Unintended Consequences...

12 ga slugs. Nothing less. Bears get all fat during the winter, and the fat can plug bullet holes.

New Belgium Glasses $5.99/2-pack + Free Shipping

It's beginning to kinda piss me off. Why would you offer something online, and then not have it to ship? I just looked at my email, and they're a week overdue.

Brew Masters on Discovery w/ Sam Calagione

I have to agree with ubermick. The show kinda follows the discovery channel show flowchart. 1) Create a daunting task, 2) Create what seems to be a horribly short timeline to do it, 3) Show people responsible for task goofing off, travelling, etc, 4) Complete task and acquire accolades. That...

Brew Masters on Discovery w/ Sam Calagione

I've really enjoyed the show so far. Lots of info, and lots of insight into the company itself. I wanna work somewhere where I get a case of beer every payday....

How do you clarify your wort before pitching?

To get the crap out, I've been pouring through a mesh strainer. It caught most of the hop material.

    First Allgrain day!

I actually scared myself about it more than I needed too (just like my first tattoo). My temps were close, and SG was good enough. The yeast went ape and made me use a blow off tube. So all in all, I'm looking forward to the next time. Except for the fact that my dog crapped the carpet while...

    First Allgrain day!

Yeah, I got the igloo at Lowes on sale. I figured a hefe would be hard to screw up. Gonna probably try an IPA next.

    First Allgrain day!

Man, that thing was heavy enough to lift as is. I had enough room, since I stick with 5 gallon batches. I will upgrade when I start using a propane burner. Not allowed to since I live in an apartment.

    First Allgrain day!

It held temp real well, for probably two reasons. 1) I overheated my initial strike water in order to get the cooler to suck up some heat, and 2) I put some big thick towells on top of it to help hold the temp. One think I think I'll be doing is making a floating lid outta some foam insulation...

    First Allgrain day!

Not too many pictures, but this was my first allgrain brewday. Made a pretty standard hefeweizen. http://s1043.photobucket.com/albums/b438/rhsatterfield/Allgrain%20Brewing/

    First Allgrain

Tomorrow, I'm gonna be attempting my first allgrain brew. Just would like some feedback/double checking on my numbers. As this is my first run, I don't have any idea what my efficiency is gonna look like. I'm gonna be using 11lbs of grain. I'll be using 13qts of water to hit a ratio of around...

"So, you going to sell that?"

I think the question I get the most is "Is that legal?" I do agree with a lot of the earlier sentiments that paying for beer that only comes from a store or bar is ingrained into our society. I also agree with the fact that if you can't nuke it in a package, 70 percent of America wouldn't...
