    We'll so far so good. Bout day 5 the batches developed a thick top krausen on both jugs. It's starring to subside today. Gonna do a hydro test later today to see where we're at.

    I got a thick krausen forming at day 6 of fermentation. First time I'm using apple juice so I'm wondering if thus is normal.     I fold the packets shut an scotch tape them closed. Store them in the fridge. I pitch using a 1/4 teaspoon measuring spoon. I divide the packet by five, use a gram to tsp calculation and measure conservatively. Always pitch a hair less that what it comes out to be. Never had a problem so far...

    Check your local supermarket or farm stand. Just make sure that the juice/cider has no potassium sorbate or any other preservatives besides vitamin c (ascorbic acid). Try whole foods or trader joe's if you have one nearby. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew
