Done for now! We'll see if the fine workmanship of masking tape will hold up at the party tomorrow, and if the temp can outlast the beer!
For the record, the co2 tank that I got was the pin-type (if there are others?). The regulator had nothing to depress the pin, but the On/Off valve did...
Correct. The green line is ambient room temp. It's set up in the entry way of the house, and gets a lot of sunlight during the late afternoon, so it was a relatively warm 77F when I started (but wasn't in direct sunlight). The AC cycled on once about 3 hours into the test. Didn't sway the...
Thanks Mike, that's good news! I was under the impression that the paintball tanks (that don't have an ON/OFF valve built in) still need something like this or the adapters that places like MoreBeer.com sell because they push in the pin on the tank (since the regulators themselves aren't able...
Hi all,
Just wanted to share the results of a little test I started last night.
I have an event tomorrow night that I wanted to take a keg to, but didn't really have a mobile setup. I have one of the "ice cube" square coolers with wheels that I was planning on using for the cause. I...
I threw a couple of kegs of water in the keezer over night, then got them both out, threw temp sensors in both, wrapped one in some cheap Wal-Mart foam, and measured the change in temperature in both of them over time... Was trying to decide if I could get away without a more expensive neoprene...
In my unprofessional opinion, I would say: probably, but it might be pushing it a little. I've been able to get mine down into the mid 40's when I was first playing with it, but manually sutstaining it with ice water would have been a chore. I would suspect it would be a chore for the freezer...
That thing is cool! I just ordered one and am going to see if I can morph it into something useful. For my ferm control setup, I pump chilled water through radiators to cool my fermentation chamber(s). I use ice bottles in a 5 gal bucket o' water as my source of chilled water. Will be nice...
Just wanted to report back that I've let this sit for another month... roughly half of that at ferm temps, and the latter at serving temps. After sampling this eve, I was able to go ahead and pull (and drink!) a whole pint of it. Still a LITTLE too bitter on the finish, but it's a night and...
Bummer, Ed... They're probably jealous of all the time you've been spending with the hut.
It's definitely been toasty and dry this year. Yesterday was our first rain in I can't remember how long...
Count me in for the Central Texas Hop Gang. I was happy to find cones on all 5 of my plants a few days ago. All are first-year. I wasn't really expecting much, but they all seem to be pretty thick with cones! I don't know what a "good crop" looks like, but I'm happy none-the-less.
I had...
I wish that was the case! I like Blue Moon, but Hoegaarden was my first love. I've made AHS's Belgian Wit and Hoegaarden clones in the past and had very good results. This was a clone someone put together of Hoegaarden that I was trying for the first time...
It's only about a month old, so still young. I've done a couple of other wits in the distant past and didn't recall it being quite so "pronounced" at this point, so that was where the concern was coming from. I'm happy to give it all the time it wants if it'll help.
Hi all, I'm carbing a new wit (about a month old) at the moment and (at least right now) it's way heavy on coriander. Pity realy. Tastes great at first, then follows up with a harsh peppery flavor.
Any magic coriander-canceling ingredients out there? :) If there aren't any shortcuts and...
