    Solder instead of spade connections

I ended up picking a small pack of blue connectors, I soldered the blue connector on. Later I realized that the plug uses smaller connectors so I used the blue connectors for the fuse holder and soldered to the plugs then shrink tubed over it. No signs of melting.

    Solder instead of spade connections

You mention liquid flux. The only flux I have is Harris SCLF4 Stay Clean which I used on my kettle, any concerns using it on this project? The solder I have is rosin core so I don’t normally use any other flux.

    Solder instead of spade connections

    Another good idea

    Solder instead of spade connections

Good idea on the heat sink. I’ll grab the fuse holder contact with a vice grip as a heat sink, not enough room on the 115v plug though

    Solder instead of spade connections

I am building a panel using Auber’s Cube kit. The 115v plugs and fuse holders have male spade connectors on them with the intent of using blue female spade connectors on the wires. I don’t have any and it seems silly to order a bunch online if I only need 10. Also I’m using solid 14awg building...

    Slimmest keg available

I use ball lock kegs in my kegerator. I can fit (3) 5g kegs along with (1) 3g on the hump. Using all ball lock was the only way it would fit as the pin lock are a little wider.

2.5 or 3 gallon Ball Lock kegs

I got mine by putting up an auto search on Craigslist for kegs, after a few months I was able to pick up a total of (8) 3 gallon kegs. The 3 gallons move fast so you have to jump on them immediately.

Using 10 month old Wyeast 3278 cake

Well, I’m selling the glass and getting PET.

Using 10 month old Wyeast 3278 cake

How long would you feel comfortable leaving the beer in the fermonster?Or after 5 months would you say the beer is done and ready to be bottle? I have been careful not to get oxygen in with the sours I have been working on because I’m not huge on acetic flavors, maybe I’m being too careful...

Using 10 month old Wyeast 3278 cake

July 2018 I made a Lambic using Wyeast 3278, it's been in primary in a glass carboy the entire time. I took a sample and it is okay, not really all that complex or sour. I've heard that reusing this blend makes it more complex. I was thinking of moving this beer to a secondary (or bottling) and...

Is 5500w too much for 3-5 gallons eBIAB?

Eh, maybe I should just get the 44 qt model. My only reason for the 62 quart was the option of doing 5 gallon high gravity batches such as a RIS or barleywine and to make boilovers less likely.

Is 5500w too much for 3-5 gallons eBIAB?

Unfortunately I'm in Minneapolis so I can't meet, I appreciate the offer though. Do you have the same setup? How much boiloff per hour are you getting? I assumed the below which is why I thought a 3 gallon batch would work. 3 gallon final batch, 1.048 gravity w/ 1 oz hops 3.5 gallons in the...

Is 5500w too much for 3-5 gallons eBIAB?

I’m going to be switching over to electric eBIAB from my propane 3 vessel manual system to make my brew days shorter and easier with less equipment. I’m also going to go down to 3-5 gallon batches as I don’t drink beer at the rate that I used to. My intent is to get a 62 qt Bayou Classic with...

Any way to fix a slightly undercarbed bottled beer thats been in the fridge for months

Sorry I missed the responses. I knew how much sugar I put in because I wrote it down and I knew how much I should have put in using a priming calculator. I under-primed it originally because I used the wrong beer temp. I let them sit for 3 weeks and they were fine. I didn’t notice any...

Any way to fix a slightly undercarbed bottled beer thats been in the fridge for months

Warming the beer up won’t make it more carbonated, you will just lose it faster when you open it. I undercarbonated a beer I made and aged the bottles for 9 months before I found out. I ended up figuring out how much priming sugar I needed and then dissolving it in a measured amount of water...

To buy hops in bulk or not...

I vacuum seal hops and keep them in the deep freezer. As soon as I open the large bag I reseal into 1, 2 and 3 oz packages so I don’t have to keep exposing the hops as I use them. I also like to warm them up before repackaging so no oxygen rich condensation forms on them. I have 18 month old...

Brew the same or something different?

Making the same beer multiple times with small changes to improve it helps you become a better brewer. I like making new stuff but there are beers I’ve made multiple times because I enjoy them and I keep making small changes to dial it in.

Belgian Dark Strong Ale Westvleteren 12 Clone - Multiple Award Winner

What water profile is suggested for this clone? This could be in the thread and I’m working through reading it all but I’m brewing this in a week and won’t be able to finish in time.

Belgian, Bohemian and German Pilsner Malt Interchangeability

I’ve been brewing a bunch of Czech, German and Belgian styles of beer recently that all call for their respective types of pilsner. Which of these would you say are most interchangeable? I don’t want to keep a bag of each on hand if possible. I have a bag of Belgian and a bag of Bohemian...

Northern Brewer goes to "Free" shipping.

Midwest made this change online a while ago. Midwest’s in store pricing is lower than it is online, it all matches Northern Brewer’s pricing. I would imagine both Midwest and Northern Brewer in store pricing will stay lower than their online pricing.
