New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Thank you for your service! We should all take turns doing this lol

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

Anyone have a recipe they could share that's a really great example of the style? I know there's probably a ton on here, but I haven't totally kept up on the thread. I tend to like examples with a little bit of classic citrus/pine and a little bit of more modern tropical fruit.

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

I vent my keg through the PRV, and then I use a gas QD with a short line to a little jar or jug of water just like a blow off tube. This works great for me with everything on the ground by the way.

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

That's exactly the yeast I just used, and exactly the process I followed lol. Thanks for the sanity check!

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

Yep, exactly. My gas post got clogged up with gunk and air was not getting through. If the krausen doesn't reach the top, the blowoff tube from the gas post works great.

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

How do folks deal with blowoff using this fermonster system? I've had my krausen reach the top a few times and had to switch out the keg post lid for a regular lid with a blowoff tube. I almost didn't catch it last time, and I'm guessing the lid would have cracked? I did order some ferm cap, but...

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

Kegged my Brujos style Citra/Krush hazy today. Ended at 7.6%, 1.020 with 0.5 lb maltodextrin, which will be my thickest IPA yet. Smelled crazy.

Speaking of Krush.... I feel like ever since they gave it a name, I've been seeing it on taplists everywhere. I mean it's definitely been a great hop for a while, I guess Krush markets better than HBC-586, but it still makes me think of weed/kush every time I see it.

Brujos just did one with Riwaka, Krush, Citra & Mosaic that was really phenomenal. I'd say just Krush & Citra would be great as well.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Just an anecdote, but I was able to drink some Fiden's (DDH Eugene's Axe) and Brujos (FH Hails) side by side at Brujos the other day. Both were absolutely world class, but Brujos had way more flavor and aroma. Not saying it was better, I could argue that Fiden's had a better overall balance, but...

    Plastic taste in beer

I'm remembering now I bought distilled water from the store for one batch, and that did not address the issue at the time.

    Plastic taste in beer

There is supposedly chloramine in our city water, but I've always used campden tablets to counteract that.

    Plastic taste in beer

The off flavor is gone, but I never figured out why. I slowly replaced a few plastic pieces of equipment, deep cleaned my tap lines and kegs, but I can't pinpoint what actually made the difference. I didn't make any major changes to my process.

Have you posted your recipe and process anywhere? Looks great.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I soft crashed to 55 degrees from days 12-15, dry hopped days 15-17, cold crashed days 17-19 and kegged.

Mashed at 155, I thought it would have been a toucher higher too but its in the ball park

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I got around 4.5 gal in the keg which is typical for my set up. I think the malto contributes something other than just plain old body. Its hard to put my finger on it, but its a certain type of body and sweetness that seems to compliment the big dry hop really well. I didn't use lactic, I had a...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Well everybody, I'm happy to report that I brewed a really ******* good hazy IPA! This is my second attempt at a Brujos style, and its a huge improvement from the first one which was already pretty good. Bottom line is I really think the maltodextrin made a big difference, I definitely pick...
