Is it my imagination or are you heating up the tool box on the range? It looks like your burners are on. That's kind of tough on the electronics, don't you think?
I've got the Weller WES51 station as well. I try and solder connections for any electrical farkels I put on my motorcycle and/or truck. For the longest time I was struggling with regular soldering wand from Radio Shack until I stepped up and bought this station. Life is so much better now. I...
And a jacket. It doesn't have to be leather but at lease flame resistant. I welded for a long time in a long sleeve denim shirt but the occasional spark would find a way to burn through. Ouch. Also there is no such thing as "too many clamps".
Yah. That was more or less by design. In an earlier post to this thread, you had mentioned you were 6' 3". I'm 5' 10 and didn't want to reach over the keggles. Since I'm going all electric, I shortened the stand by about 3" which took out the burners, used 4" casters rather than 5" and...
Yep. That'll ruin a ride in a hurry. Your partner probably had a worse time. My /5 hates the rain if his airhead is anything like mine. Looking forward to seeing more film and pics of the "Brew and Ride". Thanks for sharing with us.
The stuff dreams are made of. Beer and motorcycles. Looks like a BMW 1150GS and an R100 airhead. I've got an '04 1150GS Adv and a '73 R75/5. Great bikes.
Come on. 3100 miles in 3 weeks? In Canada!! There's nothing wrong with that ride.
Is this documentary going to be like Alton Brown...
You're more than welcome to it if I can figure out how to upload the file to the 3D Warehouse. So far I keep getting rejected by Google and the file is too big to upload a zip file to this site. In the mean time PM me your email address and I'll send it to you that way.
Nope... You're not alone. I've got Sketchup in one hand and the welder in the other. Pictures to follow in another build thread. Until then here's my shameless copy of jlandin's Brutus design that I plan to use for an E-Rig.
I took a welding class last year at the community college to get the basics down just so I could build my brew stand. Plus I've always wanted to learn how to weld. I'm not going to change careers and my welding sometimes looks like crap but at least I know more now than I did then.
I got...
Bringing home the welder was where you made your first mistake. This is exactly what happened to me. Today it's a brew stand; tomorrow it's something else. Well... you'll get no sympathy from me. I have my own demons to slay.
Good luck in your build. I went with mild steel (cheaper) and...
Nice setup. I actually drew up plans to build my stand so I could store my kegs on the bottom. The only thing that concerned me was the height. I might be reaching up and over the keggles. How's the height of the stand for you?
That's a great shot. Thanks for taking the time to put it together. I see what you mean about staying just above the seam. How far around the coupling would you go before you stopped and let it cool down a bit so as not to blow a hole in the keg?
Since I only had one day of TIG before I had to leave the class, would you wash from the thicker coupling to the thinner keg material or weave over the seam?
