Im going to being using a microcontroller and I figure that I would just cycle the heating element on and off as needed (depending on the temperature) and I plan to have my fluids always moving. Would I need to bother with a PWM setup? I guess technically I am doing PWM if I am cycling the SSR...
I have started the real build. I have a weird DPWS issue that I want to work out before I publish code. Otherwise I hope to be brewing this weekend or next. Check out the link below to my blog.

Awesome advice. Ill do all RO with some calcium chloride until I can get the hang of things. The best part is I get to drink 5 gallons of beer per test!
I am a complete n00b. I have a decent ro system and am considering using ro for my mlt and using tap for sparging. Anyone see any gotchas? Just moving into all grain and am looking for knowledge!
They are real SLOW. Like 10-15 seconds from full on or off. However if I start them in close to off I believe I will be able to control them just fine. I don't mind if it takes 5 minutes to get it to the rate I want.
Here is the link that got me on my way...
I got a circuit working using PWM, a filter, op-amp and lm317. Then decided to just go with a 24VAC valve. Im going to use the water level (calculate flow from that) with some logic in code to control the flow.
I guess I wasnt too clear. I plan on doing the same with the valve today. I saw one of those links seemed specific to the heater element, that was were my comment came from.
I plan on doing something similar today. Ill let you know if I come up with something. Why control the heater with PWM? I was thinking of just cycling it on and off with a SSR.
For $40 on ebay you can get a 12vdc 30AMP PS which will handle plenty of therse, controller and anything else. I sitll like DC over AC any day since this is a hobby and there is too much metal and liquid to start with. My opinion though.
Im going to use this one. I might beef it up. I also have 12Vdc solenoids because they were cheap!
