    Valve recommendation

Anyone know of a good 12 vdc valve (or any valve for that matter)? I have been using solenoids from duda diesel and they are AWEFUL. Just caused me a batch of beer!

    Automated HERMS system

I have some belimos i use now to regulate my pump flow. they are slow (90 second swing) but I dont care for the MLT. I can wait 90 seconds. They use two relays though which I dont like but its better then nothing. I have an extra one which will go in before we do our boddington clone this...

    Automated HERMS system

I did the same with my false bottoms. My MLT FB has a hole big enough to allow a lot of stuff into the circulation. This did mess up some solenoids (very easy to clean). I took the pumps apart and they were fine. They have nice big openings. After my last batch I took everything apart and only...

    Automated HERMS system

Im replacing my duda solenoids for the MLT. It clogs way to easily. Also the BK one that is used for recirculating deformed for some reason so that will probably be replaced as well. Probably with a ball valve type setup. Make sure the bk valves are working right. I had a the same issue with the...

    Decoction or not

I figured as much but was hoping for a method I could easily automate. I'll probaly buy a hot plate to do this with when I get to my first pilsner or lighter lager. Thanks yall!

    Decoction or not

Do I "need" to have my grains when I do a decoction boil? If not I could just pump some wort to my BK. boil it for a few mins and dump it back in. If I dont need the grains, that would rock! When I do a lager I will try a true decoction process. My next Ale go around I might drop the maltose...

    Decoction or not

I want to make sure everyone realizes I never did a true decoction. I never take out wort, boil and then add back in. I just do the temp steps. The output of this dubbel was awesome so I probably will test out boils steps one day when Im bored but wont do this for my dubbel. I believe lagers...

    My Brew System

Sorry for the delay in posting. I have all the kinks worked out with the addition of 4 check valves and 2 autovents. I'll post my code on my site this weekend. The UI uses telerik so you will need to get a trial, buy it, or make ur own. Right now it's "semi-automatic" where each brewing step is...

    Decoction or not

So the outcome of this was an awesome dubbel. It was right on the money for me. I still need to work out some of my finishing (haze) but that wasnt caused by this brewing method. Thanks all for the info. I'll probably stick with this since my HERMS is automated and doesnt require any extra of my...
