the brewing network had a sunday session a while back and they talked alot about clarity ferm with the whites. its my understanding if I remember correctly, it works best if added prior to fermentation but will have positive effects as long as you add prior to cold crashing or chilling.

Yeah I would agree with lehr.. a little thicker would be nicer for sure. I think these will work for the time being but my plans are to have some stainless ones made in a thicker material.

I just made some shields. They are roughly 11 inches.. I got the northern brewer burners. They area casted pretty messy. after taking the grinder to them to clean up the burrs.. they fit good. Here is the thread for mine... I want to get some made in stainless so If you want to make two...

Its mild steel. I used my MIG on gas. I am looking to keep about an inch distance between the pump and shield. I need to sit down and fathom out how I am going to mount my water filter setup. With the stand being so small I can't really get away from the heat.
