    Beer recipe guidance

Sooo i want to brew a beer similar to the rubenator (sp) from McMenamins. Basically they combine a raspberry beer with a chocolate stout. I want to do this, but with strawberry instead. I was thinking of a basic strawberry blonde and a chocolate stout and combining them in a glass once all was...

You know you're a home brewer when?

When you're stoked about opening a carbonated beer that's not flat, or blowing up in your face : D.

The stupidest comment on your beer

Friend one: "tastes like soy sauce." ( oatmeal stout that does NOT taste like soy sauce) Friend two: "taste like Coors light." ( my first Oktoberfest that, while wasn't great, definitely has more flavor than Coors.) I need new friends : /.

    Aging a Russian Imperial Stout.

For Christmas, I was going to brew a Russian imperial stout in July and age it until December for the family. What would be the best way to age it? It's an LME recipe from the brew supply place I go to. I plan to bottle it due to the fact I lack keg funds. Should I bottle it after I reach back...

    Dry hop question

Wednesday I'm dry hopping my ipa, and I was wondering if using a stainless steel nut would be hazardous to the beer? I'm using it to weigh down the mash bag filled with hops to get a more even dry hop.

    Hop Stoopid! Anyone had it?

I'm currently drinking Lagunitas Wilco Tango Foxtrot. Highly recommended after a long day at work. And yes, tricerihops is one of my favorite beers. So damn good!

    Too much carbonation.... What do?

Ironically enough I did that with my stout that I brewed a week later. Waited til gravity was consistent and bottled away. Rookie mistake on our parts. If I'm waiting for Pittsburgh to win the Superbowl, the beers might actually be drinkable then : D.

    Too much carbonation.... What do?

Yeah I don't know why we spaced the gravity part. We were following the timeline on the recipe, but I think we were operating at a higher percentage than what was estimated. We tried the co2 trick, so now only time will tell. Thanks!

    Too much carbonation.... What do?

Brewed an ipa back in April. Primary fermentation for a week, dry hopped, then secondary for 1 week, then bottled at 4.5 gallons with 3/4 cup of priming sugar. Just cracked or open after 2.5 weeks and it's WAY too carbonated. It foamed and has the carbonation of a soda. Any ideas what I should do?

    Sanitized bottle storage

I just make sure I rinse out my empties after use and put me in bankers boxes until next time I bottle. As long as there is no mold in the bottom, I run them through a dishwasher cycle and voila. Works every time.

    Sunlight

Sorry, should've specified he's in a wire mesh cage directly next to the window. Only reason I brought that up was the vet said uv rays can't be contracted through windows. Tried tying that into beer to maybe relieve some phobias for people like me who don't have an enclosed area that supplies...

    Sunlight

The question I had was about the UV rays and that whole business. My girlfriend and I have a green iguana and he can't obtain the rays through glass. Wouldn't that be the same with beer? I just bottled an oatmeal stout that I left uncloaked and didn't have a hint of skunk. Any thoughts to this?

    Hop Stoopid! Anyone had it?

I recently tried it on tap yesterday at a brew festival. Was freaking amazing. I also had their little sumpin sumpin and I gotta say it was one of the best beers to date. Very awesome brewery.
