    Discussion: False Bottom Alternatives

So far I have been using a nylon bag of gravel placed on top of a 3/16 silicone tube, although a 1/4 inch would be better. The sparge, using another equal length of 3/16 tube from the water to the tun, takes about an hour and fifteen minutes and goes well basically unattended. It can be a little...

    Friendly Commercial Brewers vs. Not-So-Friendly

They may have an over zealous mail filter.

    Friendly Commercial Brewers vs. Not-So-Friendly

The popularity of Windows is based on the software available for it, which was based on the success of Windows, which was based on... and it all goes back to the IBM name and very limited early competition. Linux entered well after Microsoft had the market. Had Linux had the running start and...

    Friendly Commercial Brewers vs. Not-So-Friendly

I never heard of Avery until I saw a recipe posted here somewhere. That was so impressive we asked a couple of people living in the Boulder area if they had heard of the brewery, thereby passing the name forward from people who can't get their beer to people who can. Regardless of what else it...

I think they're hot, but you probably don't

Oh yes, I knew there was something I forgot.

I think they're hot, but you probably don't

That is much of the attraction - she can move from stunning to distractingly ugly or girl next door to villain before your eyes. Uma Thurman to my eye is quite unattractive and a dreadful actor but obviously a lot of people really like her so vive la différence.

I think they're hot, but you probably don't

Is that to say you don't want a spot on the list of potential suitors?

    Brewing/Liquor License

Now that's the kind of thinking that gets people to where he's going - he sees opportunities where others might see obstacles.

    What are you drinking now?

Stout - it's good but I'm easy. Hefe is next, it'll be a harder sell.

    Brewing/Liquor License

On http://brewlabsf.com/posts there is reference to a $15 charge. So, in one state, it appears people have worked out the details of sharing each other's wares cooperatively. People bring product, they share product and it appears, in this case, in that state, it is only beer with a value placed...

    Brewing/Liquor License

Brew Lab seems to have figured out something in CA that allows it to exist and prosper. As they list the available brews they may be a good case study for one state and may well be an indicator for others. That's a start the OP might consider.

    Brewing/Liquor License

That looks ideal. The photograph says a lot about its success. In this area the scope would have to be broadened to include non-brewers who offer other services on and off the premises (home and car repairs come to mind) and probably make a few changes to adhere to the law. I guess in small...

    Brewing/Liquor License

What are the laws governing cooperatives (generally) where no money changes hands? People get together, some bring malt, some bring talent, some do renovations, some record the contributions and the benefits. Is financial profit what determines legality? There would be none but everybody profits...

Guys used to spit in their beer so others wouldn't drink it. Now we just throw in a little extra hops. :tank:

I'm thinking of making a coffee wine, will it be caffeinated?

The taste could be very interesting but the effect might be confusing.

    What irritates you about brewing?

I don't worry about it, I worry about worrying about it. Kind of a meta-worry really. If I didn't worry, I wouldn't have anything to worry about.:D That's kind of why I posted it in Drunken Ramblings and Mindless Mumblings.:tank:

    What irritates you about brewing?

Sanitizing everything irritates me. It is not doing it that bothers me it is the lingering doubt regarding correct amount. I never know whether I'm fighting contamination or eternal damnation (cleanliness being close to godliness after all). I scrub, clean, sanitize, put the bottles in the oven...
