I'm on my 5th AG batch and I've been having trouble with the boil off. I keep collecting more and more wort but I always seem to end up shy of my anticipated 5.5 gallons. I'm always worried about the boil not being vigorous enough or pulling too much from the mash tun. I'm still experimenting...

I smoked for 15 years and quit 3 years back. I will sneak one or two a year when I've had way too much to drink and I enjoy a cigar once a month or so. I hate to say it but I really really loved smoking and do miss it but it's just not worth it health and money wise anymore.

I got my refractometer from Austin Homebrew just a few weeks back and already have used it on three batches and I love how much easier it has been. I made sure to do all my reading up on them and knew how to use it and when I needed a conversion before I started using it. I will say though...

I usually do use a magnet to keep the sucker in the flask, but my mind was somewhere else and I just spaced. I knew it would happen sooner or later.

I just made a chiller following the OP instructions and it formed up nice but I hate compression fittings. I've never had much luck with them and they tend to leak on me. I'm working on it.
