coppertubingsales.com review / immersion chiller project

    1/2" is cheaper if your order via their ebay store. 3/8" $27.99 + $12.03 S&H = $40.02 1/2" $31.95 + $12.60 S&H = $44.55 Don't forget about the 8% cashback from live.com which brings it down to $41.99 shipped for 50ft 1/2".

Water heater element coupler, which one?

Hmm, any other options? The guy welding these for me is willing to work for beer, wine or mead. Added maching most likely would cost me extra.

Is the 2" to 1 1/4" reducer in that list?

Water heater element coupler, which one?

From what I can tell, my water heater elements are 1" NPS and not NPT. The limited responses I've found say that a 1" SS NPT coupler should work. Anyone that has welded in a coupler for their heater element what have you used? Here is what they said on the distiller forums to use...

    Gravity?

Ahh, I ended up just purchasing a refractometer that does 58-90 BRIX for $27 shipped. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330308997808

I haven't updated my log yet, but I will once I am sure that my refractometer is working properly. Here are a couple pics.

    HERMS HEX coil?

Coppertubingsales.com isn't always the cheapest. I ordered 50ft 1/2 from an ebay seller for $31.95 + $12.66 shipping. Coppertubingsales.com wanted close to $49 shipped for theirs. Plus I saved $2.56 instantly with live.com's BIN/Paypal cash back. So my end total was just over $42 shipped for...

Just to note that trader joes carries two types of sweet cherries. The ones in the 8oz package contain sulfur dioxide. The ones in the 6oz packages do not.

Feeding the fermentation & additional nutrients

Had I thought of this question 12 hours earlier we could have a response from Ken Schramm himself. A home brewer in our club judged meads with him at the KC Biermeisters competition. As well Ken Schramm was the banquet speaker and gave a presentation on controlled fermentation for mead makers...

    Gravity?

My only concern with that is that I have to waste 1 pound of syrup and that seems like it would only give me the gravity of 1 gallon of water mixed with 1 pound of syrup. I'm seeking the gravity of just the syrup so that I can add it into Beersmith. Off to do some more research. Thanks for...

    Gravity?

I have some cherry syrup that I've been using (cherry juice and sugar) and maybe I'm just being dense today but I for the life of me can't figure out how to figure out the gravity of it. When I put a drop of it on my refractometer it is off the scale. When I mix equal parts syrup and water...

    Recipe for Fruli Style Beer

I'm interested in this as well. I'd love to perfect a recipe in time for the summer. Here is some of the info I have found out so far. ABV: 4.1% Belgian Wheat Beer with 30% real strawberry juice As well from what I can tell some PH adjustments might need to be made to keep the lovely...

I have to agree with this. Had I known that the honey was going to be $60 and cherry juice would be $48 I would have passed as well. But once the honey was purchased there was no turning back.

Feeding the fermentation & additional nutrients

I noticed that Ken Schramm talked about adding honey when the initial vigorous fermentation slows. He mentions that he does not follow this method because he thinks that yeast cells are missing nutrients to aid in healthy yeast metabolism. Does anyone know which exact nutrients that he is...

So Oregon wants to raise the per barrel tax from $2 to $47?

Hmm, how do you/they come up with the $4/6 pack method? A barrel is about 3968oz and a 6pack is 72oz. Meaning that you can get a little more than 55 6packs per barrel. A $45/barrel increase to seem to be about $0.82/6 pack increase, not $4.
