    Yeast Starter How To?

72 Will be fine. What I will tell you two things that impact home brewers beer the most and when you get them down your beer will be better and better. Yeast, which making a starter and pitching the right amount is huge (which you seem to be nailing down). Temp. control which is much harder for...

    Yeast Starter How To?

If your OG was less then you thought that means there is less sugars to convert so no your beer will most likely lower ABV then you thought. As far as the dryness more depends on what temp you mashed at. Low 150's dryer - higher temps sweeter. The starter has very little to do with the outcome...

    Does anybody else.....

I guess it depends on your Equitment. It takes me close to an hour before brew day to wash and clean my stuff. I have a pump and plate chiller that needs cleaning before I use it . Takes 10 min to heat the water to 110 degrees put PBW in run through hoses, pump, chiller for twenty minutes. Heat...

    Yeast Starter How To?

You don't have to decant. I do it sometimes if I am ahead of the game and make my starter 4 days before brewing but most time I just toss the whole thing in there. I have never noticed adding 1L-2L of a starter effect the overall beer. Now if I were doing a real big beer with a gallon or more...

Yes, you can use either. Not sure if the ratio is the same but it would be close.

    Yeast Starter How To?

Couple of questions and we can walk you through this. What is your projected OG of the beer? This will dictate the size of the starter. If it is Between 1.050-1.065 you will only need 850ML - 1L starter. I use light DME and use about a half cup of DME per 1L of starter. I use a flask but if you...

    Wyeast packs swollen

Make a starter you will be fine. I have used some fairly old yeast in the past with a starter. Just because the pack is inflated doesn't mean it is bad. We're the ice packs still cool?

Just got the new "Cereal Killer" Grain Mill

I ordered mine yesterday.....as I would perfer to buy all American made products $89.00 vs. $140.00 plus is a big difference. I can save that extra cash for grain, or my next home brew gaget.

Semi-newbie in need of REAL help!!

I agree you should bottle a few as well. Then you can find out if it is in the kegging or process prior to the keg. Also have you changed your beer lines in your keggerator and have they been cleaned. Then I would check the hose you use to tranfer into the keg. Maybe your beer line is causing...

    Did you break even yet?

At the rate I am going and spending I think 2075 is my target year. I brew because I enjoy it and like to consume what I make. I don't do it to save money. That being said I just upgraded my brewery and sunk a ton of cash but I am now buying grain in bulk, buy hops by the pound and harvest some...

Is $130 For A Used Therminator A Good Price?

Yes very good deal. Mine was 200.00 new and it is worth it. Even if you have to run cleaner through it a few times and sanitize it you cannot go wrong. Good find.

    All Grain Brewing Setup

Here is my set up it all in how much you want to spend and if you are a toy guy like me or not. Both will make good beer. It's about the brewer not the rig!

    Time to Randall ?

This is the only way I have seen it as well. I have a HopRocket and if you hook it up the night before and don't push beer through it than the hops will remain dry. That being said I keep mine hooked up for days and it is damn good!
