Fourth stuck mash in a row

This might be the cheapest, easiest, and quickest solution... Put something under it that will flex a little when the bottom domes but will still let liquid flow flow thru... I did see that the "Titan" false bottom from Northern Brewer has channels cut into the nut... So maybe this is the...

Fourth stuck mash in a row

Wow... good call Bobby... that probably would have never occurred to me.... Or make some kind of spacer that is perforated but supports the center ... maybe out of UPVC? or as small tea strainer... or something like an inch long piece of this:

How much does your Mash Efficiency matter?

I would say that on the homebrew scale it's more important to know what your efficiency is and how to reliably achieve it than to hit a specific efficiency number...

There has to be a better way to drain BIAB over a kettle at mashout without using a hoist

I'll bite... My mash tun and false bottom (i.e, a bag) costs ~$10... I can sparge or no-sparge, no need to vorlauf, drain super clear wort to boil kettle by lifting the bag & can start the fire immediately. When spent mash is thoroughly drained (before my boil is even finished), it’s easy to...

    Winter Seasonal Beer Christmas Ale

I just got my latest batch into the fermenter last week... The honey doesn't add much flavor... Just dries it out a bit and ups the abv... The molasses does contribute some flavor but I'm not sure I could pick it out... The candy syrup is probably a fine substitute... The spices are what make...

I've been listening to the Dead South lately... Found them on a YouTube rabbit hole... Alt-bluegrass.. from Canada "In hell I'll be in good company" is their most popular song... But they just released an awesome version of "you are my sunshine".. practically a different song... Also the Hu...

foil tape? https://www.amazon.com/3M-Foil-Tape-3381-Silver/dp/B00A7I5L86 tape on inside of colander so wort contacts metal side, not glue side thru the holes? Edit to add: Or even just aluminum foil... or plastic wrap... Doesn't need to be completely water-tight... just harder for wort to...

There has to be a better way to drain BIAB over a kettle at mashout without using a hoist

My method has been to lift the bag with 2 hands, let drain a little until it's light enough to briefly hold with one hand, slide colander under bag, slowly lower bag into colander while spinning bag to twist the excess material.. The twist tightens the bag and keeps the grain in tight ball...

There has to be a better way to drain BIAB over a kettle at mashout without using a hoist

There are some holes slightly up the sides... Not just the bottom... So if it's slightly larger than your kettle there's a chance of oozing over the side unless you're careful... Ask me how I know... 😁 But with a little bag management... /begin Butthead Heh. Heh. Bag management... Heh...
