    selling homebrew

I once read that in a couple of states people were permitted to sell their homebrew at local Farmer's Markets. I think Vermont was one of the states. It could have been all BS for all I know.

    What Are You Lookin At???

Wow, I didn't understand any of that but if it was up me I just would have stepped on that bug. Then my version of the story would have just plain sucked!

    getting fat!

I don't know how many alcoholics that I have run across that can't hold a job because they are too busy holding a can. Have you ever noticed their physique? They are some of the thinnest people on earth. Many of them consume 4,000+ calories per day. Of couse they don't eat anything, but the...

    Need some motivation...

I have been on burn out for awile now. It's been since October 05 since I brewed a batch. I felt tired of drinking the same old styles all of the time. I think my comeback batch will be a cider and follow it up with something experimental. I am going to try to produce a caramel porter with a...

    AHA Membership

The pub discount list has quite a few participants in each state, but it doesn't seem to be much of an incentive for most people. The participants seem to be in larger cities. Of course, I carry my membership card in my wallet just in case.:mug:

    AHA Membership

I am only a member to get the magazine. I think Zymurgy has changed over the years. It is a much better publication than it once was. Well worth the money.

year old beer in the carboy

Serve it to the friends that can't appreciate anything but Bud Light. When push comes to shove they are the ones that will drink anything that is free. Save the good stuff for yourself :mug:

    October Pumpkin Stout

Interesting. We have the Circleville Pumpkin Show. The whole town goes wacko for pumpkins. It's not uncommon to see a 1,000 lb. one. We eat pumpkin pie, pumpkin chilli, pumpkin doughnuts, pumpkin burgers, pumpkin pudding, pumpkin spaghetti sauce, pumpkin pumpkin pumpkin, and yes pumpkin...

    Carbonation drops

I have heard that 2 drops in a 22 oz. bottle will result in normal carbonation, but I have never tried it. I use to use Prime tabs. I liked using them because I could keg most of my batch and still have a few bottles on hand. I never got adjusted to using a counter pressure filler from a keg.

    Hello Everyone!

Start with the kegs if you don't mind a little higher costs. You won't ever look back!

    P.E.T is this the future?

Never tried PET, but I am a glass man myself. I am a leg man too

    Shipping Bottles

UPS is hard on everything. Pack it right and don't declare anything. I have never had a problem.

    Christmas time is near...

I am going to try my hand at a Caramel Porter. I like the Saranac Version, but they wouldn't give me any tips towards developing a recipe. Maple Porter is always good too. I have brewed it a couple of times.

    Identifying the Taste-German Lager

I have asked this same question in the past. I came to the conclusion that it is a bit of sulpher characteristics that is common with bavarian style beer that it is exported to the United States. I think it is a natural occuring characteristic rather than skunkiness due to the green bottles.

bulged top and funky airlock in fermenter

Sounds like you have a batch that is really too active for the bucket that it is in. The krausen backed up into your airlock and is making it difficult to breathe. There is always a slight chance of contamination when this happens, but if you sanitized everything properly you should be fine...

    Dark Cherry Stout form NB.

I made the extract version of this NB kit a couple of times. My guests loved it. I thought it was ok, but something about the cherry flavoring didn't sit well with me. When it's young I thought it had a un-authentic medicinal flavor. On the other hand after about twelve weeks of aging, it...
