    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

@sumbrewindude -- I'm curious about that Tangerine Saison you have listed. Would you be willing to share the recipe?

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Interesting. What kind of mature time? Weeks? Months?

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I couldn't search this thread for some reason, but do you folks cold crash your 1-gallon vessels? If so, for how long in the fridge? and then do you bottle once it comes back to room temperature?

    Post your infection

I can't remember what it smelled like when I took the airlock off, but I don't remember it smelling bad/funky. OxyClean and StarSan were used, but maybe something got missed.. who knows.. Maybe I'll try to bottle it tomorrow night so it doesn't progress too much further. Thanks folks!

    Post your infection

I brewed a BBS Kentucky Rye on July 20. I've done a few of these kits, but it this one looks like it might have some mold growing on the top of it. I took two pics, not sure how well it shows the white spots, but they are definitely there. I'm passed the two week mark, so should I go ahead and...

    Cucumber Beer Help

Just curious, what hops and yeast did you use?

2 1/2 gallon Montana Jar Fermentor

Yeah, I wouldn't use it for beer either. Definitely want to follow up on that Tepache thread. Plus the one I bought has a spout, which i thought would be convenient.

2 1/2 gallon Montana Jar Fermentor

I picked up something similar to this, but it doesn't have silicone inside, it's just metal (aluminum), but it's threaded and screws on fairly tight. I'm sure I could use some plastic wrap around the top to create a better seal, but do you think the bare metal is a problem? Will it oxidize...

    Multiple 1G SMaSH

Thanks! I just wanted to make sure I was on the right path. I figure I'll start with hops, and then I might try different grains like Vienna, MO, etc..

    Multiple 1G SMaSH

I'm a pretty new 1Gallon brewer having done mainly BBS kits. I was thinking of doing some SMaSH recipes to learn about hops/flavors. My thought was to order these hops (Amarillo, Citra, Chinook, Cascade, Saaz), but was wondering if I could match these with something like a 2-row and use a...

Glass stovetop not hot enough for 1Gallon?

If you're using the thermometer from the BBS kit, perhaps it is broken; which you could contact them about getting a replacement, they are pretty good with that. Otherwise, check out your local Canadian tire or walmart for a cheap (digital) replacement.

    Splitting a Brewer's Best (Kit)

Hi there -- I bought a Brewer's Best (Irish Stout) kit. It's for 5 gallons. I only have two 1G fermenters. Is it possible to successfully split the ingredients? I doubt it's possible to get 5 batches out of it. But could I potentially split it in two? If so, once I open the dry...

    Fermenting temps vs. Bottle temps

Thanks for the info... I know the aquarium stick on thermometers you're referring to. I'll probably pick up one this weekend. I've also brought the fermenter upstairs. I bottled a week ago, and suspect I'll give it another 2 weeks or so. The yeast is Safale US-05... just checked out the...

    Fermenting temps vs. Bottle temps

Can someone explain if there is a difference between what the fermenting temperature versus the temperature of when the beer is bottled? By fermenting temperature, I mean the period of time after you have pitched the yeast and have the airlock on. I'm on my third batch, and I've been...

Siphoning without racking cane or autosiphon

I used a plastic syringe (flavour injector) from the dollar store. Made sure it was all sanitized, put the nozzle end (without the needle) in the hose, pull the plunger out of the barrel, and it creates plenty of suction to get things going.

    Bad brew? Bad bottling?

Thanks for the response! 1) I expect I'll space them out long enough to finish in time for when I'm ready for my next bottling session. 2) Yeah, I was trying to do it alone; next I'll get a helper to make sure the cane doesn't bump into the trub at the bottom. 3) okay, I didn't bother then...

    Bad brew? Bad bottling?

A few questions for all the people more knowledgeable than me... Just got into the hobby. I started with a BBS Summer wheat. When I bottled it, I had about half a glass left over, which I tried. (it was in the fermenter for 3 weeks.) It wasn't great.. but I figured through the magic of time...
