    Co2/Regulator issue after 4 years...help?

I have no tips to help out but my regulator did the same thing, although it was less than 3 months old. I was relieving pressure and the next thing I knew it had the same symptom. I ended up tossing the regulator after attempting several attempts to take it apart and clean it. I assume some...

2000w not enough for 4G, other ideas?

I did some testing tonight. The element is 7 ohms and during load there is 116v at the element. I did a short boil and made sure manual mode was set to 100%. I just got to settle that the boil is not super vigourous (i did start brewing on propane).

2000w not enough for 4G, other ideas?

So my Auber PID is SYL-2352, not an EZ-Boil. I do change it to manual mode for the boil, i will double check to make sure I have it manually changed to 100% ( could be something I overlooked). After looking at the manual for the SYL-2352 and thinking about it, when I change to manual mode for...

2000w not enough for 4G, other ideas?

So first off the crazy OG numbers I tracked down to improper BIAB absorption settings in BeerSmith 2 which gave me not enough starting water. It must of been something i changed a while back accidentally. I thought my mash was a little thick at the time. So for my setup: Double roll insulation...

2000w not enough for 4G, other ideas?

Update... Went ahead with my first batch on the system. I left the lid partially on and was able to get closer to a full boil. Btw i do have 2 layers of insulation on it. Now my next problem is why my 1.062 recipe came out at 1.090? Whoops.

2000w not enough for 4G, other ideas?

Thanks for the feedback! It is a fairly flat bottom, can't say that I have looked at how flat it is. I am in a utility room off of a garage so I am not considering propane. So you saying to place a lid on the kettle that has a large enough opening to vent. DMS worries? Good idea. I did not do...

2000w not enough for 4G, other ideas?

Today was my first test boil on my electric BIAB system in a 8G kettle. I do 4G boils for a 3G batch into the fermenter. I chose to do a 2000W element in the kettle thinking it would be fine for my batch size (and I only have 120V/20A circuit). During my test boil today I was only able to...

    Kettle Sour Help

    1. Yes 2. No 3. Nope. Just a kettle lid on the kettle. Not really sealed or weighed down. I think this was the big down fall.

    Kettle Sour Help

I wish my result end up like everyone else's in this post. My kettle sour ended as an epic fail... I used L. plantarum and it the resulting wort smelt incredibly bad after 48 hours. I went ahead and boiled and fermented but was tossed. The whole apartment reeked of it for weeks! The aroma...

Off Flavor about 2 weeks after Kegging...

Last month I ran into a similar issue on two different beers which ultimately were poured out. The flavor was fine at transfer to keg and during the first week in the keg, but by the second week it had a over powering flavor that was i guess bitter but very strange, almost like vanilla or...

Source for 2.5G or 3G Pin lock kegs

The corneykeg.com new pin lock kegs looked nice but were not listed as NSF or mentioning sanitary welds. I also read some potential issues with Chinese kegs (non replaceable posts, quality of the metal, etc). In the end I went ahead and grabbed two ball lock kegs from adventures in homebrewing...

Source for 2.5G or 3G Pin lock kegs

Any one know where to find small pin lock kegs that arn't too expensive. I have seen 2.5G ones at corneykeg.com for $75 ish. I have 5G kegs but have more to small batch and would like to look at changing my kegs.

Strange off flavor developed in Brown Ale???

There could be a chance that the yeast was slightly under pitched and may have been stressed. Since this was a 1.5G batch I pitched a half pack of Safale US-05 (rehydrated). Half a pack should have had a high enough cell count but who knows depending on the viability of the yeast. My beer from...

Strange off flavor developed in Brown Ale???

This weekend I went to make the first pour from my keg of a brown ale and it had the strangest flavor. At first it was sort of vanilla like but the more I tried it, maybe it was a butterscotch like flavor. I read that Diacetyl can have a butter or butterscotch flavor but it is odd since I am...

Help with cast Iron tower conversion

I just added a black iron stand to my stand alone kegerator. I was worried that a 2" flange would not match up to the mounting holes (didn't seem like it when I measured. I found that the mounting holes in the floor flange had enough give to line up with the mounting holes as it was tightened...

Attaching black iron flange to kegerator

For what it is worth I went ahead and used 10-32 3/4" bolts and the flange mount holes had enough give to line up with the inserts in the Insignia Kegerator. The tower is looking good (although the 6" nipple is shorter than I though but a pint glass still fits under it). Thanks everyone!

Attaching black iron flange to kegerator

I just bought a kegerator and I really like the look of the black iron DIY beer towers such as this one: I am looking on Amazon at the Anvil brand iron flanges, specifically the 1.5" or 2" ones. I cross checked their website and see the mounting hole center to center is 3.5" for the 1.5"...

Gravites and abv off after primary fermentation?

Thanks guys. I did not realize the refractometer was not accurate when alcohol is present. My hydrometer that came with my kit broke in shipment so I need to get a new one. I did not record my brix value so I will have to see if I ca figure that out. My refractometer came from midwest...

Gravites and abv off after primary fermentation?

At the end of December I brewed my first extract kit, Black Jack Pumpkin Stout from Jasper's Home brew (https://www.boomchugalug.com/product/black-jack-pumpkin-stout/). -- can find the recipe on that link. Unfortunately I messed up on some details during the directions and my OG and FG were...
