lol... yeah, will this beer see nation-wide distribution?

That looks awesome, I gotta order Motuere and finally give it a shot. Those NZ hops are on fire these days! In regards to earthiness, this is going back to the subject of adding some CTZ in boil. I'm definitely going to be experimenting with that myself, but this is also what I love about...

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

I cut this mesh filter from Amazon in half with pliers, then got it into the dip tube.

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

Ah, that totally makes sense, thanks @Noob_Brewer ! I was able to find some 1/4 ball lock bulkheads on MoreBeer in the end: Gas post Liquid post For those looking for a floating dip tube with the short metal tube included, there's on on eBay. Free shipping from MI :)

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

I'm finally planning to join the hacked Fermonster community :) Just a couple of questions for you kind folks: 1) Does anyone see the need to add a filter to their floating dip tube? I've had some clogging issues with the floating dip tube in my dry hop keg before, so I had to add a stainless...

I've been getting away with using gravity for transfers since I don't have a pressure-rated fermenter quite yet. Keg posts always end up getting clogged if I ferment in those, even with a filter over my dip tube. Thing is, most pressure-rated fermenters are absolutely gigantic and won't fit into...

That's a great question. This is my 4th Simcoe or Citra/Simcoe beer and I don't know if I've ever gotten this much fruity character out of it. It's likely that both factors played a big role here, but there's no doubt that the yeast helped amplify those flavors... This was only a 7oz dry hop...

I've been eating more fruit since I got into brewing IPA's and it's pretty fun associating the flavors. It definitely helps put descriptors to flavors and as it turns out, fruit is freaking delicious! So I sort of made the grassy apricot up, looking back I think unripe apricot would probably be...

With this beer, I wanted to use some of my favorite hops from HopHeaven, throw in Cosmic Punch and try some boil additions similar to Vitamin Sea's Double Summer. 90% 2-row 10% Golden naked oats OG: 1.059 FG: 1.010 IBU: ~50 from boil 0.63 oz Citra 10.5% 20 min 0.63 oz Simcoe 15 min 0.84 oz...

That NZ hop thing can also be diesel. It's common in Riwaka, and the one bag I had was pretty seriously diesel-heavy. So much so, that the NZ Pils was pretty undrinkable for about a month. I know folks get different batches and some folks also like the note, so don't take this as a red flag. I...

I think it depends on the lots and hop quality, but I think yeah, all of those hops can be amazing. I got a silver medal for an Idaho 7/Mosaic/Citra beer from around 40 entries a while back. Idaho 7 comprised about 50% of the hop bill. It was a big orange flavor with a very pleasant Black tea...

To be honest, I didn't even get the pouch since I got it before it's official release. I got some slurry from a homebrew club president, who got it from Omega for our tasting with them. At this point, it's Generation 3+, so I'm not sure how close your numbers will be to mine, just don't be...

Regarding pH targets, there's another poster on here (sorry, can't remember their tag) that swore by lowering pH post-boil as well. 9% Nelson Hazy IPA – Post Boil pH Adjustments?

That looks fantastic! Good stuff. What was your attenuation with Cosmic Punch like? The website quotes same as LA3 (71-75%), but mine is at 82% as of today. Same with my buddy who is also trying it...

I'm sure that most of the growers are aware that some of their previous crops of Galaxy were less than ideal. Just like the kitty pee Citras and Simcoes of the past, I'm hoping that these farms can pivot and make the necessary changes quick enough. I'm not saying this batch is going to be...

Awesome, I'm also fermenting a NE pale ale with Cosmic Punch as we speak! Just hit 1.017 after 3 days, I'm hoping it'll go a wee bit lower though... No mash hops for me, but I did do some hefty late boil and whirlpool hops. First brew on the Foundry didn't quite get me the efficiency that I...

YCH most likely got different crops from YVH, I think most Simcoe lots are great, there is just that odd lot that's just really herby and dank. It's not terrible by any means, just more on a traditional WC IPA side rather than fruit. Let us know how it goes!

Haha this is too true... 2018 was great, 2019 was **** (for me), but I heard that 2020 is supposed to be good. I got my Simcoe from HopHeaven this year, but I hear that 2020 crops that YVH have are supposed to be good. PS. I don't know if Trillium do an early dry hop, I think that JC mentioned...

Honestly, I haven't had any oxidation issues just filling from keg using a picnic tap and a bottling wand. Trick for me has been to top the bottles off by pressing the wand against the top of the neck after the initial fill. This helps leave less room for oxygen and generates the foam to push O2...

Yeah, it's a really cool yeast. I did a little tasting with the founder of Omega and it's basically a LA3 that's even more fruity. In a blonde ale that my club brewed (not much hops added) I got a pretty crazy Sauvignon Blanc/Nelson Sauvin grape note. In a NEIPA, it definitely turned the hops up...
