yeah a loose connection would definately cause something like that, even if it is a little loose, a lot of times the casing around the wire will burn away. or it will melt whatever it is connected too.

i recently picked up a 12 gallon pyrex one from my uncle for free! and it is quite large and awkward to move even with only 5 gallons of wort in it. its definately cool though:ban:

you could also probably save a bit of money if you replace just the indoor coil and the outdoor unit. you could have them pressurize the lineset and see if the leak is there, and if its not, they could flush the lineset in order to convert over to r-410a. if your current unit is a trane unit ive...

i just brewed a version of this tonight. i changed up the crystal 60, and added some honey malt into it. also i boiled the goldings for 60 and the fuggles for 15 instead. i also used wyeast 1099 whitbread ale as the homebrew supply store was out of the 1056. but it smelled and tasted quite nice...

looks pretty good to me, i just made a very very similar recipe same amount of 2 row and chocolate malt. and cascade hops but i also used williamette as well turned out pretty good.

tasted the beer on friday, has a perfect hint of chocolate in it, could use a tad more depending on your taste. and could of used a tad more pomegranate, but i think the flavor will come out more as the beer ages in the bottles. but overall the beer was very smooth to drink. and isn't too heavy.

i just built my own 2 stands out of wood at different heights needed and the brewpot sits on the floor atop the burner. woods pretty cheap, and its better than getting wort all over furniture.

thats what i was thinking when i poured this bottle, i was like wow, it poured exactly like a guiness except it wasn't as creamy like. im gonna take a few to the family christmas gathering next week to see what everyone thinks.

here is my very first brew, i started out all grain. it is a cherry oatmeal stout, so far theres only a tiny hint of cherry, and its only been in the bottles since friday night, this picture is from sunday at less than 2 full days in the bottle.

i have keystone mill everything for now until i buy my own mill which should probably help the efficiency a little bit.
