    What's your opinion on filtering?

I'm finally brewing again, yeah! Since my last batch, over a year ago, I've upgraded my system and have dove head first into all grain. I have an Alaskan amber clone brewed with some Hugh Baird in ferment at the moment and I'll be brewing a Kolsch this weekend. I'm thinking I'd like a clear...

    bitter orange peal

Hey, z987k. What's the hb scene like in Champaign these days? I grew up there, but moved to Dallas eight years ago. I worked at the Piccadilly liquors on Neil St. in college and we used to sell yeast and hops. Are there any local suppliers today?

    Conical fermentors

Thanks, jdoiv. I may reuse yeast in the future, but only if I can find time to brew more than once a month. :( I am planning on purchasing a chest freezer for tighter ferm. temp. control. I found some pics of some 5gal conicals and they may fit nicely.

    Sam Adams Long Shot

So far I've only seen them in six packs. I live in the Dallas area and found them at specialty grocer called Central Market. They have a great beer selection, but still don't come close to the midwest in beer availability. The midwest is pumping out some great micros, unfortunately, the limited...

    Sam Adams Long Shot

Who has tried the new Long Shot beers from Sam Adams? Three styles brewed from the winning recipes of their annual home brew compitition, which includes an old ale, German alt and boysenberry wheat. I believe all of these are incredible brews and the old ale, which weighs in at 10.1%, in my...

    9-gal Kettle From Brewforless.com

Greetings all, from a first time user from Dallas, TX. Recently I purchased a 9-gal kettle fully modified with thermometer and ball tap from BrewForLessNow.com. For $100 each I bought 2. I figured one for my HLT and the other for the MT/LT. Seem to be built well and I was able to attach a 3/8"...
