Time for a New All-In-One Brewing System

I can. I've seen a 4x 48" reflux column plus product condenser on a normal brewing pot lid. I've seen otherwise.

Time for a New All-In-One Brewing System

Sorry, I was asking about the BrewTools all in ones. Is there a second source for the BrewTools heater element ? It's really sad to see how Grainfathers have stood up (or not) over time. There are people with a hundred brews on them. And then there are people with a lot less.

Time for a New All-In-One Brewing System

It is true that you can fit an alembic or column extension to a Grainfather. However, this does not make the Grainfather a great distiller. The alembic top makes it a simple pot still. While you can distill spirits with that, it takes several runs to obtain a significant amount of...

Time for a New All-In-One Brewing System

No, not at all. A discussion of facts is great. BTW, where is the second source for a replacement heater element ?

Time for a New All-In-One Brewing System

Sure it can. Provided BrewTools stays in business and keeps selling the parts. What happens when they don't ? Is that control IP67 rated ? How much is it to replace when it fails ? Yipee. Good to know. What's the temperature under the boiler where the pump sits ? Why is there a kit...

    BIG BEERS in the RoboBrew\Brewzilla

Look up reiterative brewing. It works way better than trying to mash a single huge mash. Tip: because the wort is so high in the second mash, it will tend to get sticky. I recommend some rice hulls in the 2nd grain bill. This was my first reiterative mash. I could have hit 1.120 quite...

Are AIO units like Spike Solo/Unibrau worth the extra money?

Home brewing has changed a lot over the years.

    New Bayou Classic kettle conversion

What is coming down the line ? Where did you get your weldless triclamp fittings ? What size are they ?

Are AIO units like Spike Solo/Unibrau worth the extra money?

It's a brewing system. What support do you think you'll need ?

Time for a New All-In-One Brewing System

"We've made a pump extension cable that allows for flexible placement of the pump. For professionals or users that want maximum serviceability if a blockage occurs this is a great option. It also enables some fancy pipework." Notice the lack of strain relief and water proofing on the pump...

Time for a New All-In-One Brewing System

A touchscreen under a pot of boiling wort. What could go wrong ? Is it rated IP67 ? Or would an accidental splash kill it ? Think you can get a new one in 5 years ? That controller is the heart of the system and if you can't get a replacement unit, you are going to have to rewire the...

Thanks for the heads up. Sorry for the hassle.

Best way to keep hot break and hops out of the plate chiller and fermentor ?

I've plugged filters like that. I love recirculating into the grain bag because it has infinite capacity and the wort is so clean going into the fermentor.

Time for a New All-In-One Brewing System

So what is so great about the Brewtools M80 that it sells for $2200 ? I don't get it. First thing I don't understand about these all in ones is are they supposed to stand on the floor or sit on the counter ? Because they look too short to stand on the floor and too tall to be on a counter...

Meet Thing 1. A 5Kw Induction All In One...

Here is the grain basket used in Thing1. I put a 12" false bottom in it. Or you could drill a thousand holes in the bottom of the grain basket if you wanted. Remember, it is SS, which is not easy to drill. https://www.amazon.com/Brewers-Best-Brewing-Boiling-Stainless/dp/B01N12UOLY Here is...

Are AIO units like Spike Solo/Unibrau worth the extra money?

I've built/had/used 3V brewing systems. Thing1 takes about 1/5th the time to build as a 3V. Maybe 1/8th or 1/10th. Skip the induction part. And skip the frame. What's left ? 2 pots, a pump and a PID. Build it in steps. Here is the grain basket. I put a 12" false bottom in it...

Meet Thing 1. A 5Kw Induction All In One...

The comments he makes about the heating time, pump plugging and filter issues are definitely not comical. And there is no excuse for the controllers burning out or how the temp sensor fits in the well. And the unit is a throw away if the heating element burns out. Sorry, those are deal...

Are AIO units like Spike Solo/Unibrau worth the extra money?

I don't understand why I can't buy something like my Thing1 off the shelf. I also don't understand why 2 kettles, a heating element, a PID and switches and a pump have to cost $1500. I also don't understand why everyone uses a water heater element to power their systems.
