how prominent is the spice character if you add only 1tsp for a 6 gallon batch? I was adding almost 1/4 tsp to the gravity reading tastes and it was very subtle. I assume if you steep it in hot water and give it a week or two it will come out more, but how much? I'd like a fairly up front spice...
when you make invert sugar, you're usually adding table sugar (sucrose) and converting it to a mix of glucose/fructose, so if I add dextrose (glucose) instead, I can skip this process ya?
Put 6 gallons into tertiary today after 7 days on 9lb strawberries. Noticed a very tart taste, almost sour. Lots of dry strawberry taste but it's in the background. Does that mellow with time or does it have a strong tartness after carbing/aging?
is this the same recipe used by the fort garry evil goat? been wanting to brew a dopplebock for a while and am loving the Fort Garry evil goat. Based on your twitter it looks like you collaborated with them on it? If so that only adds to my resolve to brew up a double batch of this recipe!!
they only sold strawberries in 3 KG bags here so I have about 13lb of berries now. if you've ever had the Fruli strawberry beer how does this compare in terms of intensity of the strawberryness? is it in your face with 8lbs? think 13 lb would be too much and overwhelm it?
