    Double Dry Hopping

I think there's no real answer. Putting half in during fermentation and half afterwards, as you suggest, is pretty common, and something I've done and liked. A lot of breweries do that. As @wepeeler says, the trend around here is all post-fermentation. I've always had success keg hopping...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Grams and liters, oh jeeze you’re testing me. A total of 11 oz in a 4 gallon batch. I think that’s about 20g/l?

    Floating Dip Tube Tubing Question

I just connected two last weekend. It slipped over the filter very easily. The dip tube is harder and awkward, being inside the keg. But I just dipped the hose in my boiling wort for 15 seconds and pushed it on. Its a bit of a struggle for like a minute or two and then its done. But that...

    Floating Dip Tube Tubing Question

100%. I still had clogging issues until I added the filter and a good cold crash. No problems since.

    Floating Dip Tube Tubing Question

Oh, I see. I’d say buy the $12 kit that’s maybe long enough, maybe not. You need a dip tube to connect the hose to the outlet. The $17 kit with the shorter hose includes a short stainless dip tube that replaces the big stainless dip tube the keg came with. It leaves about 2” inside the keg...

    Floating Dip Tube Tubing Question

This is what I use in all my kegs: Torpedo Keg Buoy ™ Floating Dip Tube | MoreBeer It does reach the bottom in a standard ball lock keg.

    Floating Dip Tube Tubing Question

Sorry, I’m a bit confused about what you’re looking to do. Are you just trying to install a floating dip tube in a corny keg?

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

My spelt version on the left, OH Green City DDH on the right. The mouthfeel is pretty close. Their hops shine waaay more though, lol.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

So I brewed two beers, nearly identical, one with 10% white wheat malt and the other 10% spelt. That was the only difference. I was really surprised at how different they were. I mean, it’s a small % of a wheat with a little more protein? The difference is night and day. Just like you all...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Wouldn’t spunding be easier? If you’re okay with dry hoping during active fermentation then you can dry hop and spund when fermentation is almost done. If you want to avoid dry hoping during active fermentation, then you’ve got to open the fermenter at some point post fermentation, risking o2...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Sure, that’s all true about Janish’s book. 🍻 But I’m also talking about a May 6 2022 interview (Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine Podcast - 237: Less is More as Surly’s Ben Smith Pursues Bigger Hop Flavor in Hazy IPA and a Refined Approach to West Coast IPA) with Surly’s head brewer that was very...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Just to touch on this again, Roaring Table, which has won awards for their hazy beers, dry hops during fermentation and afterwards. This morning, I listened to a podcast with the head brewer from Surly who says that for their core hazys, they use two dry hop charges--one at the same time they...

Grainfather vs Anvil Foundry vs Brewzilla vs ???

I've had my grainfather for 4 years now. Brewing on it is a dream. Set the water to be ready when I wake up. Dough in. It runs the mash automatically, including steps, mash out, etc. I just check 2 or 3 times to make sure the recirculation rate is about right, or take pH readings...

TiltBridge - Tilt-to-WiFi Device for Tilt Hydrometer

I have two minifridges stacked one upon the other. Kegs fermenting in both. My old tablet had to be inside the fridge to get a consistent bluetooth connection. So I built two of these. Turns out one has no problem reading both tilts, so far.

TiltBridge - Tilt-to-WiFi Device for Tilt Hydrometer

Ok, so it turns out that if you connect the correct controller using the correct cord this is like the easiest thing in the world, lol. Hope to have a case instead of a zip lock bag soon! This is awesome. Thanks for making this and helping me to build it!

TiltBridge - Tilt-to-WiFi Device for Tilt Hydrometer

Oh man, is the Lolin a type of ESP32 not an additional part? I was plugging in this ESP (first pic) but I also have this LOLIN (2nd and third pic). I’ll try a different cord.
