I had a beer in primary, and then i racked it into secondary. I rolled a beer right on top of the yeast cake, and i have no activity after 36 hours. Should i re-pitch some fresh yeast? How long should i wait?

Thats exactly what i plan on doing with it also. I added a little bit more of a coffe specialty grain to it also.

I bought a turkey fryer at home depot for $40. It came with a pot big enough to boil 5 gallon batches. If you can afford do do that, its a cheap way to get what you need. Works great for me.

Skip all that crap and go directly to biab. You arent going to benefit much from it. Ag boil in a bag is as easy as it gets when it comes to homebrew. I was intimidated at first, now i want to kick people in the shins for making it sound so hard.

So i did a little research too. If you can get a clone off the hop plant, it should work. Other than that, rhizomes are your best bet. They only cost a few bucks, and right now seems to be the season to have them shipped.

It sounds like it should work, but ive always heard of just using rhizomes. If you have any success, let us know!

My brewing setup is pretty mobile. I could bring it over and we could do a brewday together. I just worry about bringing home a 5 gallon bucket with freshly made beer...i think the drive would make a mess in my truck. Maybe wait to pitch the yeast until i get home, or right before i leave? I...

Well, its in the directions on my imperial stout recipe kit from midwest, thats why im doing it. And yes its because its a very high acohol beer.

When i do this, will it get really active, should i start with a blow off, or will an ailock be ok?

So i bottled the ipa today. I dry hopped it twice, and it smells fantastic, tastes pretty good too. Cant wait till its actually ready!

Not a bad idea, but like you say, i dont know if i have time for another project. Maybe just a flyer asking to get in touch with some more homebrewers to see if they would even be interested in a brewclub, never know, somebody out there might want to take on that responsibility.

I asked around, and ive only heard of one other homebrewer, and he is out in ft mohave closer to you than me.

Welcome to your new addiction. Im very new to brewing myself. I have done 3 brews now, and i have already had to buy more stuff because i didnt get the right setup to begin with. I would say get as big a pot as you can afford.

Maybe we could do 5 gallon batches to contribute?
