    Yeast smack packs

Yup just take some of your wort and put in a sterlized jar and add your smackpack to it. I usually wait 1-2 hours before pitching to make sure the starter is good to go

    WORST Non-homebrew you've had!

Worst Beer = Molson Canadian...and I'm Canadian... I can't beleive I'm reading that people don't like Heineken...probably the best beer I've ever had on tap in Amsterdam...but in the bottle I'll agree it's not that great.

    beginner question on contamination/hydrometer reading

    1) Dude don't worry about air contamination...aslong as your work area is clean and you don't have **** that could fall in your wort from the celling I wouldn't worry at all...when I test my beer the lid is off for atleast 5-10 minutes and I've never had one problem. 2)Just leave a little bit...

    Re-Use Yeast?

That article is very sparse on detail, it doesn't say if you siphon all the beer and just leave the trub, also it doesn't state how much liquid to add on top of the trub.

    Re-Use Yeast?

Ok, so when your ready to move from primary to secondary I can just pore my new wort over the left over sludge in the bottom of my bucket? Or do you have to leave some liquid at the bottom? I'm about to move my IPA and make a red ale. I used wyeast 1056. Is it better to just do the yeast washing...

    Fermentation In The Airlock

Just wondering if it's safe to switch an airlock while it's fermenting. Had the fermenting come up into the airlock but luckily didn't bubble over or blow off the airlock...Just wonder if anyone else has had this happen to them and what did you do?

    Pitched yeast @ 90 deg

the 1st batch of beer I ever made I pitched the yeast when the temps where at 105 cause I read that if u didn't pitch the yeast right away you can risk contaminating the beer....lesson be learned I'll never do that again. On the plus side it did ferment but didn't make a very good extract wheat...
