    Two hydrometers, two different readings..

Reminds me of a saying I once heard: "A man with one watch knows what time it is, a man with two is never quite sure." I guess other than doing some two point calibration or buying a third and hoping there is agreement between two of them I'm not sure what else you could do.... Maybe buy a...

    Sweetwater IPA clone!!!

Thanks for the advice bd2xu. I went ahead and racked to secondary. It's been sitting there for a week and I'm ready to dry hop, and then I'll give it another 5-6 days before bottling. My next question is did anyone go with deadheadjed's advice on dry hopping with 2oz of each goldings and...

I went "pro" - What it actually takes to do so

I have another question for you, I know you mentioned the issues with running propane, and then upgrading the natural gas lines, but at any point did you consider going electric? I know a guy that is opening up a brewpub locally who went that route. Was it just a matter of what your were...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

Well I finished brewing around lunch time and I have some nice air lock activity! The whole process went relatively smooth considering it was my first time going all grain. My efficiency was super low though (52%), and resulted in a pretty low OG (1.036). Needless to say I'm a little bummed...

I went "pro" - What it actually takes to do so

Thanks, that's exactly the sort of answer I was hoping for. $20k sounds completely reasonable, and hopefully in a few years I'll be posting a similar thread about a nano brewery in NC! Good luck and I'm looking forward to your future insight!

I went "pro" - What it actually takes to do so

Thanks for the write up, and good luck with everything! I hope this question isn't inappropriate, but would you mind sharing a rough estimate on capital it took to get you where you were today, and what percentage was personal funds vs loans? If you don't want to share no worries. I've always...

Any new news on Home Depot Homer buckets?

First off let me preface this statement: A) I have no real understanding of plastics, B) limited brewing experience, and C) I'm not a tinhat wearing anti-governemtn type. However, Just because the FDA says something is safe doesn't necessarily mean it is... Granted thats sometimes the best we...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

Picked up the last ingredients for a batch of this yesterday. I'll be following the recipe exactly (with the exception of batch size) and can't wait to see how it turns out. This will be my first non-extract brew utilizing BIAB. I'll make a starter tomorrow and brew on Saturday morning. I'll...

    Sweetwater IPA clone!!!

I brewed a variation of this two weeks ago and I'm switching to secondary today or tomorrow. It was my first time attempting a non-kit beer and doing a full boil extract. Color looks good, and has a great aroma so far. I can't wait to give it a taste. I do have one question regarding your dry...

Best deal on a 10gal alum brew kettle???

I used that exact same kettle for my first batch of homebrew last night! Worked great. I used aluminum foil to cover it and help bring up to boil faster when I did my conditioning and brewing. Overall I feel like its a good product for the price.
