Initial impressions of the Ss Brew Tech 10G Infusion mash tun

Just rewatched his YouTube vid killing some time while doing laundry. Interesting to note he mentions the grain bits like I get when near the end of the runoff. So it's not just me and my crush. Again, I don't care that much as I strain it, but interesting to hear another report this. Rev.

Initial impressions of the Ss Brew Tech 10G Infusion mash tun

Wasn't implying you were doubting me at all. :) Just posted that in response because that's literally all I've compared it to, the round Rubbermaid tun. Perhaps the Thermobarrel or other tuns performs better, could be. As for the heating pad, I think it's a goofy money grab. Rev.

Initial impressions of the Ss Brew Tech 10G Infusion mash tun

I can only attest to having compared it to my 10G Rubbermaid cooler. I've done many tests with water with varying lengths of time and also have done two brews with it. In all those comparisons it beat out the cooler. Not by miles but it definitely performed better. Rev.

Initial impressions of the Ss Brew Tech 10G Infusion mash tun

I don't think they've updated it in any way. When I was looking up reviews I found most to claim it held better than a cooler and I was highly skeptical. I only saw one review where the guy, who was clearly pissed off, was comparing it to his Chapman Thermobarrel and his video review basically...

Initial impressions of the Ss Brew Tech 10G Infusion mash tun

Well, no one product I have found yet is perfect. If I were Ss I would've made the FB holes a little smaller. But it's only one aspect to the product. I like the other benefits greatly and currently don't know of any other zero dead space mash tun. Would be simple enough as well to cut a fine...

Bru'n Water pH very low compared to other softwares?

I understand and respect that. However, please also understand this thread was not created by you, it was created by Cocktus and its intent was to question if the results he was receiving in Bru'n Water are valid or not. I simply responded stating my recent pH meter measurements seem to most...

Bru'n Water pH very low compared to other softwares?

My solutions are kept at room temp in my apartment. So the solutions were likely at 72F-74F. I believe the sample temperature for the referenced Imperial Pumpkin Stout was 77F. But if I'm wrong and the sample was at 85° why would that be treated so catastrophic? I feel like some in the thread...

    Beersmith3 lost data

I use Linux. Never had this issue :D Really happy Brad releases Beersmith natively for Linux. My only gripe is he often takes foreeeeever to fix bugs or design issues mainly cause, as he put it, he spends most his time working on the mobile app. Rev.

Initial impressions of the Ss Brew Tech 10G Infusion mash tun

Have you contacted them to ask if there's a way you can buy them? I'd imagine they should have back stock or can special order them for you. I for one would be pissed if I had a product they just stopped offer supplies for that are prone to wear. If they don't have any way to provide you with...

Initial impressions of the Ss Brew Tech 10G Infusion mash tun

I ordered a replacement o-ring with the initial order just so I have a backup. If it snaps after a fair amount of uses I will probably order half a dozen at that point. If it snaps within only a couple of brews I will probably look to make my own alternative. I also don't keep the gasket on the...

Initial impressions of the Ss Brew Tech 10G Infusion mash tun

Yeah if you recirculate at some point all those bits would get filtered by the grain bed. As for vorlaufing longer... that is actually more work and time consuming than simply using the dual mesh strainer. Just going to continue using the strainer. If I decide to take a chance someday I might...

Do you disassemble corny post poppets when cleaning?

I never take them apart and have never had a single issue. I do however remove the liquid out post and soak it in BLC when I clean the keg. I run some BLC through it by pushing the center pin down and then when rinsing also push the pin down to let clean water flush through the post. Rev.

    Robobrew V3 1000W element died—suggestions?

Morebeer shipped it to your address, so I can't see why they wouldn't be able to look up the order based on the shipping address. Morebeer provides awesome service. Reach out to them and at least try first. Btw, there is no warranty card in the Robobrew box, least I didn't have one. Rev.

Bru'n Water pH very low compared to other softwares?

Reading is fundamental guys. I stated I don't recall the actual temp when I measured this specific beer but I said I maybe it was in the 70's. I said I never sample above 85°. Secondly, why have something called ATC (automatic temperature compensation) if it can't compensate a few degrees...

    Step mash rest AFTER lautering?

I think that wouldn't work well because yes, most of the enzymes are in the liquid mash. Direct heating temp is going to be much higher at the contact surface than the averaged temperature in the liquid so I'm thinking there's a much higher chance of denaturing the enzymes than you have if you...

Bru'n Water pH very low compared to other softwares?

See my above post, "pH reading is always taken at 30 min and cooled to at least 85F". As you can see I always cool it down to at least 85F. Often I will cool it as close to room temp as possible but sometimes if I'm busy with adding hops and such to the boil if it's hit at least 85F I will take...

Bru'n Water pH very low compared to other softwares?

My Imperial Spicy Pumpkin Stout that was pH 5.05 was a big hit. I've been asked by several friends to re-brew it and will be doing so two weekends from now. Planning to use a small amount of slaked lime to bring up the pH a bit however. In the recipe there was 4.5% debittered black malt, 6%...

Can any bacteria survive this cold snap?

Why not just buy an immersion chiller? They are easy to hook up to a kitchen sink faucet with an adapter. Rev.

Is "Ultra Barrier Silver Beer Hose" worth it?

I can attest that I've continued testing my lines and have not been able to detect any difference between the beer that sits in the line for days and the beer that follows. Only that first test and as mentioned that first pull had a ton of yeast murk from when I previously had shaken the...
