PH meters that are easy to store, affordable, and accurate at mash temps?

Yep still loving mine too. Been working great. Such a huge improvement over the Milwaukee PH56 I used to own. Easy to calibrate, stabilizes nicely, easy to use, nice cap with storage solution fill line, etc. Glad I took a chance on it. Rev.

    How much gelatin?

As mentioned, more shouldn't harm anything but isn't needed. One teaspoon is what I used in both my pilsner and amber and they both came out crystal clear. Here's the pilsner: Rev.

So I forgot to add a campden tablet to my pilsner...

Yes, I've been using the NY State Water Report and even got a Ward Labs report recently. Been treating my water for years, since when I used to live in New Jersey. I've also been using a quarter campden tablet per 5 gallons of water for years, just happened to forget this one time. Rev.

So I forgot to add a campden tablet to my pilsner...

Just to add, I have a very very hard time believing oxidizing might have anything to do with it for these reasons: 1. Both the pilsner and the amber were cold crashed and had gelatin added in exactly the same way. Only difference is I lowered the pilsner from fermenting temp of 55 to 42 one...

So I forgot to add a campden tablet to my pilsner...

... and at the time figured maybe it will be OK since lager yeast is supposed to be very clean and not produce a lot of phenols (bound with chlorine turns into chlorophenols yes?). Just tapped up this Pilsner and it has a dominant solventy/rubbery taste to it. Not the beer lines as I just...

Mash thickness: with or without the external, under false bottom volume ?

Then you would only do desired quarts per pound. Recirculating exposes the grain to all the available strike water. I couldn't determine from your initial post if you are indeed recirculating or not. Rev.

    Yet another Robobrew question

It's just a different system, you can still make excellent beer with it. And it's still all-grain brewing. Your experience with it might be great or it might be frustrating - no different that any other hobby with different tools to accomplish the same task. I had a couple of good experiences...

Mash thickness: with or without the external, under false bottom volume ?

Yes, you should calculate to have all the grain contact the water, unless of course you have a recirculating system then no it would just be the quarts per pound x grain bill. If not recirculating then yeah it would be as you said 1.5 quarts x grain bill + space underneath. In my tun there's .39...

Bru'n Water pH very low compared to other softwares?

But see I never implied that, you assumed that is my reasoning. I don't want to share my recipes right now until I've used them in an established business. At that point I am happy to openly share them. I do very well understand that process is the most important, no argument there, and my...

Bru'n Water pH very low compared to other softwares?

Who said anything about getting rich? No need to be snarky. My brother owned a bar that I worked in for a couple of years. I know very well how difficult it is. Rev.

Installed Accuflex Bev-Seal Ultra lines last night

Thanks for the suggestion. I did think of that but the problem is I already threw away my EJ tubing and don't have any other smaller tubing like that to use. I just forked up the money and bought another Oetiker kit on Amazon that has the 8.7mm one's, and even has the smaller 7mm as well as...

    Pellet hops question

$50 for 24 hour access just to be able to read the article? Am I missing something? Rev.

    Pellet hops question

There's lots of writeups about hop deterioration over time and of course storage method and temperature make a big difference. But can I ask, are you just folding up the packing and sealing with tape for these hops or are they vacuum sealed? Could be the difference. Personally, I wouldn't even...

Installed Accuflex Bev-Seal Ultra lines last night

Gotta say this line is more involved to deal with than regular line. In searching it up nowhere did I find the information on what size clamps to use with it, I hadn't known the tubing wall was so thin. I have an Oetiker kit from Amazon that has various sizes but even the smallest was too big so...

Installed Accuflex Bev-Seal Ultra lines last night

What size Oetiker clamps would one use for the Accuflex on 3/16" 90° tower barbs? *EDIT - Disregard. I think to put on Oetiker clamps it will be a real pain since I already routed the cables down into the tower/kegerator. Guess I'll look at small worm clamps since they can be opened all the...

    Pellet hops question

That's what I do too - press out the air, roll up the empty space a few folds till it's tight, then put a piece of tape across to seal it. As long as you use the hops within the next 2-3 months they should be fine. I wouldn't use them after a year though. Also note that hops do lose that alpha...

    120V Boil - 5 Gallon Batches

You'll likely get to a boil but it will be a very gentle boil, like that which you see in a Grainfather or RoboBrew. It will also take a long time to reach temps and add a lot of time to your brew day. I use a 10G Spike kettle on gas stovetop combined with a 1650w BrewHardware HotRod Heatstick...

Installed Accuflex Bev-Seal Ultra lines last night

I'm mainly curious if anyone else has the tubing mounted to their tower shank barbs without any clamps. Like I said I seriously don't think the tubing can come off without some serious force but of course clamps give piece of mind. Just that the tubing OD is so small. Rev.

    Purging a corny keg

With all due respect, his question was already answered several times. And I beg to differ the discussion has gone off topic as someone posted bad advice to our newbie kegging friend and some of us that know science better have been correcting said individual. There's nothing wrong with trying...
