    Equipment

I just bought this along with an $8 bazooka screen - seems like a great sale price given everything else out there is smaller and more expensive (it also has great reviews). I've been using an 8 gallon pot with no valve for BIAB and doing smaller batches. This will allow me to do 5 gallon...

    Finished Keezer

My newly finished keezer on casters; 4 home-brews on draft at any given time and it works like a champ. For those who are interested, I documented my build here: http://boykingbrewhaus.com/2014/08/13/my-keezerkegerator-build/

    Sweaty Taps

I just build a keezer, and have sealed the collar pretty well with caulk. I sealed the gaps between the collar/freezer well and just ordered a fan, which I'll install for more even temperature. The keezer sits on my covered deck in Virginia, where it's routinely over 80 degrees. I've noticed...

    Rhubarb

As promised, here's the recipe to my brew: http://boykingbrewhaus.com/2014/07/19/verdict-and-recipe-strawberry-rhubarb-saison/ Good luck!

    So who's brewing this weekend?

    Here's a time-lapse of my brew day yesterday: http://boykingbrewhaus.com/2014/07/19/brew-day-time-lapse/

    Time Lapse?

Anyone else have any time-lapse brewing videos?! I did one with a stout fermentation, and then did another today based on my brew day. It was a beautiful NoVa day, and I brewed Tasty McD's APA as a BIAB: http://boykingbrewhaus.com/2014/07/19/brew-day-time-lapse/

    What's in your fermenter(s)?

Bell's Two Hearted clone (in secondary) - this is a great beer!

    Rhubarb

I brewed a strawberry rhubarb saison (based on a recipe I read in Zymurgy). I just legged it and am starting to drink it now. Here is a link to the brew day, I'll post the recipe shortly.

Norther Virginia Brew Day: Tasty McDole's APA while drinking my recently kegged Strawberry Rhubarb Saison (recipe found in Zymurgy). I keep my brew days updated here: http://www.boykingbrewhaus.com

American Porter Bee Cave Brewery Robust Porter

I know a guy, who knows a guy, whose friend mashed this at 156 as opposed to 150. What might...that friend... expect out of the final product with the extra 6 degrees?! Significantly less alcohol? Taste?

    New to kegging questions

For my lighter beers I like to add gelatin to the keg and it does a really good job of clearing the beer. Here's a quick read on how to do it: http://www.bertusbrewery.com/2012/06/how-to-clear-your-beer-with-gelatin.html

    Are Kegs Worth the Cost?

I've tried the homemade counter pressure bottle fillers (using a bottling wand and stopper) as well as some other methods. I like to bottle off the keg to share with friends and for competition where good consistent carbonation is key. Nothing I've tried beats the Blichman Beer Gun. If you...

    Mead Slurry?

I made my first mead using Wyeast 4184, and recently racked to secondary. Not knowing if I could reuse the slurry (like with beer), I scooped a cup into a jar and out it in the refrigerator. Does mead slurry work like beer slurry, can I rep itch into another (similar) mead?

I want to try brewing my own beer...

I second the brewing network podcasts, and a must is the Beersmith podcast. Craigtube is also a good resource, as is Beer Geek Nation on youtube. I would also start out with an extract recipe kit and follow the instructions, and you'll have 45-50 bottles of home-brewed beer in a months time!

    2 gallon batches

I like to make 5 gallon all grain batches when I know my recipe is tried and true (I've brewed it before, get it of the HBT recipe section, or Zymurgy). I do some experimenting in 5 gallon batches, but where 2 gallon batches are worth it to me is in recipe development/experimentation. I always...

    Are Kegs Worth the Cost?

I agree - kegging your own beer and keeping it on draft is great!
